Well I recently set up a grow and made a lot of mistakes. Wrong Nutes, no pH meter, bad pots and awful ratio on plant medium. Well I honestly have killed my babies and I am heart broken. I wanna do everything I can this time around to keep them going and thrive. I have ordered perlite, pH meter, fox farm big bloom and grow big Nutes. Im going to do a mixture of Coco coir and perlite. But I need help with the ratio of coir to perlite. I'm gonna try and half the recommended dose when starting off of Nutes and work my way up from there. I'm going to end up ordering the flowering stage Nutes and pH up and down. From what I've been reading and getting advice this seems to be okay and a good way to go for a beginner. Yay or nay guys and any tips. Sorry for being such a noob Sent from my 6062W using Grasscity Forum mobile app
heya bud, I'd like you to look over this thread. Just follow those instructions and you are pretty well guaranteed a successful grow.
I’m not a coco grower. But coco is a passive hydro. Maybe after this grow look at the lucas formula with general hydroponics nutes. It’s two bottles from beginning to end can’t get easier. Fox farms will work. Also, feed daily until run off. Also the ratio is 50/50 or 60/40 coco to perlite. Hope this helps good luck and welcome! Sent from my iPhone using Grasscity Forum
I just ordered some coco on amazon I’m about run this very method. I’m moving from soil to passive hydro. I’m running hempys currently but wanna give coco a decent whirl since I just got a RO system. I’m going to use Micks KISS on a few plants and then soil2coco has given me his feeding schedule for masterblend nutes so I’m going to run that as well and see which I like best. Pretty excited this seems much easier than soil. Sent from my iPhone using Grasscity Forum
I have not tried masterblend and will be testing plant products soon, but i do know that maxibloom works and so does Micks' methods. Growing in coco is nice, but try to order the 'better' coco... there is a difference! I like how lazy I can be with it, I don't even check the EC, just the pH. Yea, you will like coco I think. *I add ~30-40% perlite to my coco mix.
Good to know. lol I’ll let OP have his thread back now. didn’t mean to hijack it! Sent from my iPhone using Grasscity Forum
Awesome man I really appreciate that, that was a grest guide. Very easy to follow and go with, until I can afford the Maxi Bloom would I be okay starting off with Fox Farm grow big Sent from my 6062W using Grasscity Forum mobile app
So this is my idea for my next round of seedlings, im gonna use Solo cups at first with holes drilled in for drainage and allow the run off to collect in the tote to test/drain when need be. I also cut a 7inch hole on both sides of the tote and a 5 inch on each end to allow good air flow through the tote. Figured this would help with the roots getting air instead of it being sealed off. I'm not doing a Hydroponics grow. Just a similar set up. Opinions and thoughts please? Sent from my 6062W using Grasscity Forum mobile app
