I am growing 10 plants in my basement i dont have a grow room there just in the middle of floor wide open basement my question is i have a arbon filter can i just hang it over the plants run it and will this control the odor in my whole basement? Its not being vented anywhere just through filter out fan and just run in my basement will this prevent my house from smelling? Or do i have to build a small room and try ro contain the smell in it and just cent in out side the little room right into basement? Cuz problem is i dont have a grow tent and my ceiling joices are a prick so i ant build a air tight room anywas and my plants are starting to flower week 1 any sujestioms will it clean the smell of the whole basement???
You will need to get the appropriate sized carbon filter for the air space you're scrubbing. So if you are putting it in your basement without any dedicated space (ie. tent) then you will need a carbon filter large enough for the entire basement. Otherwise you can consolidate your space by putting up walls or putting it in a tent, and getting a filter and fan that can handle the smaller space.
I agree, when using an entire room for growing, you need a large enough fan and filter to exchange the air in the entire room roughly every 5 minutes.
Cheap method would be to hang some sheets around the grow to contain the air hang the can filter near the ceiling in the center, or like the guys said get a tent $500 should get you the size you need.

There only 2-300$ to!
You can use panda film to section off a smaller area or get like a can 66 with a 8" inline and scrub the whole thing
I would even just section a corner off with vaporbarrier plastic sheet, and filter a small area, you can cut the plastic and make ears that staple between the joists to get fairly airtight. Then an exhaust fan with some ona or a carbon filter going outside. Your going to have to do something, it's gonna stink up the whole house not just the basement
Thanks guys ya i have a 4" in fan to cabon filter i figure i could take 2 8x4' sheets of ply wood going length wise with the roof joices tight and then get some clear platic width wise at 4 feet and cut hole and hang filter exhausting out of room to main basement and have a air purifier outside of that running and blowing on a bucket solution of say pine sol or if i can find ONA then just get a house fan and cut another hole blowing air into room and have another inside urculating air i have 3 Cannalope haze's and 7 all differant selected bag seeds first time grow so should be interesting its the bagseeds that are giving off the most odor so far but man they are all so lovely interesting to see how every plant has its differant style look. Where can you buy ONA and whats the best way to mix it if i make a bucket just outside room and maybe another just at top of stairs before the closed door to basement?
I would just get a tent. Probably won't end up costing much more than all this stuff you are buying, will be more effective, and will also increase your yield slightly with reflectivity.
Check out Kijiji, type in grow tent, lotsa hydroponic stuff on there. Should be able to get a tent there.
