Baseball bat stalks

  1. Hey I wanted to ask when I see guys with plants that have stalks as big as a bat how long does it take to grow a plant to do that ? I know 1 month does not achieve stalks like that and I know pot size has alot to do with it too. I was just wondering how long and what pot size could I try that

  2. This one was grown outdoors over a summer......

  4. Big tony, the bigger the pot, the better. I'd go for at least 7 gallons if you can fit that. Veg for as long as you can. Long veg and lots of room. Now, if you're actually talking about how to produce baseball bat stalks, this might not be the right forum ;) (just messing with you)

  5. I'd go with 75 or 125 gallon sized smart pots or directly into the ground into holes this big. Ive done this before with homemade landscape fabric pots.

This still had a month or more to go at this point. These giant fabric pots were filled with homemade compost and organic soil.

Same thing, still had 5-6 weeks left

Big pots or holes with lots of root room and organic soil with quality humus. Full sun & plenty to drink. That's half the work - keeping thirsty girls moist all summer.

Trucking several 5 gallon pails across the field every day takes its toll. I got smart with the 4 wheeler by the end tho.

  6. Wow what kind of yield did you get off her?

  7. Not my plant....from another thread on another forum. (allegedly 10lbs)

  8. Cripes! I believe it. Never seen a ten pounder but Cripes! I know what organics can do!

It's funny; I was talking to someone in the Indoor forum the other day that was fairly adamant that hydro produced more than organics.

When we see or talk about the Big Plants - you know, the 1+ pound plants, they are never, ever done with hydroponic nutrients.

10 pounds - boy that would be fun. Over the years with my outdoor experience I used to do a lot of plants. None this year, but last year and the year before I tried concentrating my efforts on less plants, but bigger plants and it worked out well. It's so much easier taking care of less, bigger plants.

    Nice stuff Chunk.

  9. Just thinking about this - I guess it's possible with a long enough veg, but has anyone ever seen The Monsters done hydroponically?

  10. I've never grown hydro but I think with enough room for roots and growing outside it could work.

  11. There it is folks! Less is more!!
