Has anyone ever heard of or used bananna peel tea as a fertilizer? If you have used it did you like it or notice any advantages to it thanks in advance.
I’ve made more like a peel slurry or whatever, just shredded up peels and water. I didn’t really pay enough attention but I use peels a lot in compost and in place compost.
They're good in compost. I make tea from compost and manure. Not peels in their raw form. I would not add raw, uncomposted material to my plants because instead of nice clean smelling compost you're going to get funky rotten fruit.
Yes I have done it. Didn't notice anything good or bad. If you're thinking of using it as a fertilizer, I think you're better off using something else. You can always compost banana peels or feed them to composting worms.
I've heard of folks using banana water and also potato water as a supposed K booster. I've used both and didn't notice anything noteworthy. Like everyone else here says, I think they're better used for compost.
The big issue I have with this is the amount of pesticides they spray on bananas, it's pretty heavy. If you have access to bananas that are guaranteed organic than it is a good K and P booster. The K numbers are really high.
I never ever think about this with stuff. I did with some straw bales but I’ve used peanut hulls as in place compost, peelings of all sorts that I’m sure I didn’t wash good enough. I’ll always run across a post like this and it’s an “oh yea, should consider this” moment.
