I have access to a replacement ballast repair kit for 400w lamps. It's got no enclosure or heat sinks, or socket for that matter. I can get it for little or no money, and am considering using it, buying a metal enclosure to house it in, then mounting it on the wall safely away from water and heat. Is there any reason I should steer clear form this idea? BTW, it's major brand industrial quality stuff, and I can safely handle the wiring and mounting.
If it isn't a lot of money and its trusted name brand then I would give it a shot. Definitely since you can handle the wiring and mounting. If it fails your not out much money, and you can buy a new one
