Balanced tincture oil not working

Discussion in 'Weed Edibles' started by Trivium91, Oct 25, 2018.

  1. Hi guys I have some 1:1 drops with about 10mg thc and 10mg cbd per ml, they are high quality medical grade and from what I read have been decarbed although it does not say on the bottle of it is or isn't. I have a balanced strain of flower that I smoked, I had a 1/4 ounce with my wife to get the effects we both wanted...so we both have a low tolerance. I tried 0.7ml (around 7mg thc and 7mg CBD) of drops which are suspended in MCT oil and I really didn't feel anything. My wife tried 0.3ml and didn't feel anything either. we hold it under our tongues for several minutes than swallow...are we doing something wrong? Is there something wrong with me that can't absorb sublingual or through the stomach?

  2. Even whole ml is only 10 mg. If it's not decarbed you won't feel anything. Can you find out if it's decarbed? I'd try a larger dose. What effects are you looking for? Medical or recreational high? Good luck with it. Personally I have not yet tried a 1:1.

A 1:1 strain is very weak on THC to really be felt anyhow IME.
10mg even of a high THC strain is a low dose for most people. But here we come up against personal tolerance.
Keep experimenting with gradual steps up in dose until you find that happy zone.

I use home grown Cannabis that is mid grade seeds usually found in my grow or gifted from friends and it's in the 15% THC range I'd guess.
As edible oil my wife uses about 2mg but I need more like 100mg. So a very wide range of dosing exists.

The problem is that I don't like high thc strains as they make me paranoid and knock me on my ass. The flower that I bought is also a balanced strain and hits me pretty good when smoked but more heavy relaxation and very nice mellow euphoria rather than the anxiety induced from high thc strains. I'm basically taking the same amount of tincture to flower smoked yet I don't feel it...if I need more to feel it spending $80 on the tincture is not worth it in that case. So the question, is it possible my body absorbs from smoke more efficiently? I'm pretty sure the tincture is decarbed with accurate readings as it was purchased at a legal dispensary (legal in Canada). Should I just injest the oil rather than hold it under my tongue as edibles are known to be much more potent.

  5. Smoked vs edible doesn't always translate very well. Both are a matter of finding that sweet spot we all like.
If the weed your smoking fills the niche your after then try making that into either Tincture or Edible Oil. Neither process is very difficult.

I can't comment on Canada products but Colorado state controlled Edibles at the 10mg limit per item is crap. Even eating a full 100mg of Colorado edibles gave me absolutely nothing at all. The weed isn't bad but the edibles are shit. A well made edible is more efficient then smoking it so try making your own.
My own edible oil and baked goods kick ass so I'm not sure who is shitting who but either the numbers are way off or......

It's possible however I would have thought the heavily regulated market in Canada since it's legal now would be accurate on their readings. I suppose it's possible that while smoking the balanced strain I'm only absorbing the THC and the CBD is getting burnt during combustion. Perhaps the CBD in the oil tincture is more effectively reaching my body and cancelling the THC effects. I have a vape coming in the mail so I will give that a shot this weekend and see if I can get a buzz. I'm not trying to incapacitate myself but rather get a nice mellow high while reaping the benefits of reduced anxiety/stress and IBS releif. That said If I'm going to consume a strain with any THC in it, I want to be able to feel a mellow high like I do when smoking the balanced strain. The balanced strain flower hi have actually has less THC than CBD, basically 6% thc and 8% cbd or something like that where the oil is exactly 1 to 1. Yet the flower still gets me high, where I feel a slight bit of paranoa but it fades really quick before the relaxation kicks in and balances everything out...a very social high that does not make you second guess who you are and make you afraid to face work stress on Monday.

My thoughts are that if I need massive MG's of THC to feel it through tinctures or edibles than I might as well not bother as this would cost far more.

  7. I was going to suggest vaping. It's way different from both edibles and toking.

  8. A 1 to 1 vape is how I start my day. I do feel it, but it is more of a lift than a high.

  9. How th
How would you say the difference between smoking and vaping is?

  10. Vaping is very similar if you are using good quality oil with all the terpines. The difference is that oil is very consistent and easy to regulate. After trying a new cartridge once, I know how to dose. It’s easy to use, low odor and very discrete.

  11. In my case the high is not as intense, more gentle and less overwhelming. Maybe the word is it's more balanced. It's different for my wife, though. For her there isn't that much of a difference between the two.

I would be vaping herb, I don't think they legalized waxes and concentrates yet. My tincture 1:1 oil is suspended in MCT so I would most definitely not be vaping that. Not sure what oils can be vaporized but I would assume some suspended in PG and VG. I do have straight CBD (no THC) ejuice for my electronic cigarette but I've been using it also as tincture since it seems to just gum up my cotton. The herb specific vaporizer I have coming is a herbva x which gives you the option to vape dry herbs. The only issue is I spent $80 on tincture drops that don't seem to work. I remember trying my sister's boyfriend's vape pen a few years ago that had shatter in it which I think is a hard weed resin, basically one hit overwhelmed me...something I did not enjoy. Granted it was likely full THC and no CBD.
