Baking temps

Discussion in 'Weed Edibles' started by 420nChill, Aug 17, 2019.

  1. What temp are you guys baking at seen as most baked goods needs to be baked at 180 c but thc degrades before 160 right? Or when it's in the baked goods it's fine???

  2. The oil in baked goods helps "protect" the thc from too much additional decarb.
For example, at 240 F, air decarb takes 40 min, but oil decarb takes about 2 1/2 hours.
Internal temps don't reach oven temp for awhile, but surface parts do, and there will be thc degradation from baking.
If baking time is kept to a minimum the thc damage can be kept to a minimum.
    I bake 10 gram cookies in silicone mini-muffin molds for 10 min @ 350 F, and they're excellent.
But I'm afraid to cook a sheet of brownies at that temp for 40 min.

So it's really a race between getting edibles baked correctly, and saving the thc.

  3. That's what I had thought. Whenever I bake brownies I bake at 160 for added length of time but dropped my cookie temp down to 140 yesterday but they took 20 mins to cook and idk if texture is as good ‍♂️ . Thankyou for the response

  4. Do you decarb first....or just throw grinded bud in cookies and bake?

  5. Here's what I do to make 30 cookies of about 40 mg thc each:
    1. Decarb 7 g flower @ 240 F for 40 min. (I use Ardent Lift/Nova instead)
    2. Grind to fine powder.
    3. Add lecithin, herb, and oil (which can be the recipe oil) to a heatable container, and bake at 220 F for 20-40 min to infuse.
    4. Weigh the bowl the final ingredients will be in, then mix ingredients together, and weigh the the bowl again to get grams of total ingredients. Divide by 30 to get grams per cookie, then weigh them out for accurate dosing into a silicone mini-muffin tray. I do this with my hands in the dough.
    5. Bake @ 350 F for 10 min.

  6. The oven temp doesn't have anything to do with the internal temp of whatever you're cooking. Just because you set your oven at 350F doesn't mean your brownies get that hot. We bake chicken at 375F but it's done at 165F, if the chicken actually got to 375F it would be black and hard as a rock and your house would be full of smoke.
