Sup yall, I've been getting my ass kicked by naders lately. Lost power last weekend for 8 hours. My closet humidity and temps spike within a few minutes of no power. I freak out within a few minutes of the closet being at 80% humidity. I happen to have a 3350W generator sitting in my garage. I grabbed that, stuck it out back, and cranked her up. Grow room was good to go. My only issue is that generators are loud. I came accross these converters on Google. The question is, how long would an average car battery last at a constant draw of say 1500 watts? https://www.walmart.com/ip/BESTEK-U...5tMW9nhERRj9G84eB5Z7fU5ZMGl93MbRoCKCEQAvD_BwE -Han Sent from my SM-G892A using Grasscity Forum mobile app
A large car battery will be about 100 amp-hours, meaning it can pump 1 amp of current for 100 hours, 2 amps for 50 hr, etc. As an example, if an LED driver requires 50 volts, and has a power of 300 watts, then the current it draws is found by applying the formula Power = Voltage x Current In this example the current would be 6 amps, so the battery would last (100 Amp-hr)/(6 amps) = 16.7 hr
Stop, think... You can't get more out than you put in. Can a 12 battery provide as much power as half of your generator claims to? (The noisy generator is your answer, by the way.) I've have a generator hooked up to my house for years! Didn't mean I was growing pot; I wasn't. Whenever the power went out, I started the generator and life went on. *IF* you can 'swing it', I've seen some small Honda generators that were darned-near silent. (I think they are pricey)
Sweet formula thanks bro ! Yeah those Honda generators are bad ass and super quiet just hella expensive. My off brand cost 250 bucks, the honda one costs like 2500 lol. Yes, it doesnt necessarily mean I'm growing, and even though I'm totally licensed to, I dont want any neighbors knowing. Maybe I just smoke too much and am way too paranoid lol. So I would be lucky to get 3 hours out of a battery with what I need for the room. Not bad, but not the best either. Good to know. Sent from my SM-G892A using Grasscity Forum mobile app
