  3. I dont wanna say no.... So Im gonna say HELL no! Summer time Im down to live in the back country but winter can kiss my ass. I hate the cold.

  4. it's a shame we're not closer; i love winter camping.

don't forget the vents in your igloo, i did once and the fuckin thing collapsed due to the heat i was giving off all night.

  5. first aid, and a fire starting kit. and a water proof container. have fun

  6. hey i dont know if youve left yet but ive done a few winter camping trips (around 15 days each)

im gonna look over your stuff here, are u in WA? if so i might be interested to join you.

Ok I looked at your gear and your not prepared right at all. LOL

I wish you luck man stay safe please let some1 know where u are going and when u plan to return.

you really dont have the proper gear for this kind of trip.

here is a picture of one of my camps in the abosorka wilderness. we use skis and sleds, plus a backpack.

one thing u always need is a backup stove. and a repair kit. since your melting snow for water, its critical gear.

here is an example of a winter kitchen, our snow shelters where to the left, and slept 3-4.

  8. lastly, bears hibernate in the winter.

im sure ull survive, but if you have any specific questions about gear, feel free to ask me. im always to help new people to learn to enjoy the wilderness safely.

just be careful and have a good plan b if something goes wrong out there :p

  9. That's awesome Dreadlocker! If I had that much gear I'd be out all winter :smoke: That's an awesome camp, looks like that trip was a lot of fun.

I have some cool pictures from the overnight trip, just waiting on my computer to load them. :smoke:

  10. You have a good start with your gear, but as Dreadlocker said, you need some more essentials.

I would add a water filtration kit, hiking poles, an emergency radio, compass, topographical map, a small bit of dry wood shavings, kindling and medium-size wood, M80's just for fun, trail mix, flashlights and a lantern.

Another nice thing to do in winter is skis, or snow shoes. Hand warmers are also quite nifty when you get to the igloo building stage, but aren't really necessary if you have warm layers.

Oh, and don't forget the chronic and a good bottle of distilled vodka. The vodka really does taste better when you're in the cold wilderness, and functions as a nice fire starter.

  11. where you headed?

im in colorado and ive never tried winter camping.
