Back pack for Hiking Climbing in budget.

  2. Your backpack is the last place to skimp and try to budget on. [​IMG]
    Buy a high quality one with the best hip belt you can find. You want 90% of the load on your hips and not on your shoulders.
    In my youth I climbed all the 10,000 foot and higher peaks in Southern California and you quickly learn to get the weight off your shoulders.
    We used external framed packs with 4 inch wide hip belts and usually carried 50 pounds or more.
    Dry camping, water is your highest weight penalty at 1 gallon per day 8 pounds per gallon it adds up fast.

  3. My best advice is to avoid Walmart brand at all cost. They are cheap, made in China and will more than likely wear out within a few uses if you are going hard core into hiking and climbing.
