Baby plant looking a little lt green?

Discussion in 'Sick Plants and Problems' started by Danbamboo, May 26, 2010.

  1. So these plants about 10-12 days old and the older ones' leaves are light green on the end. Any ideas? My guess is nute burn or it gets too hot...

  2. If you haven't given any nutes, there shouldn't be any nute burn issues unless your soil is bad.

What kind of soil are you using, and what pH is the water that you use? It looks like the pH might be too low in either your soil, water, or both. You want a pH of 6.5-6.8, if you go below 6.5 you start to lock out nutrients.

Also, if you are just using CFL bulbs, you need to get them a lot closer, like 2-3 inches from the top of the plants. As close as you can get them without it being too hot, put your hand at plant level under the lights for one whole minute, and if it does not get hot you can put the plants that close.

How hot does it get at the hottest in there?

  3. It has gotten 80 degrees. I think you might be right with the ph value I'll have to go get something to test the water/soil. I am using MG organic, perlite, worm castings, and 1/2 tsp of blood meal. I will move the lights closer... Thanks for the input.

  4. 80 degrees is fine, that's not too hot. I would bet it is a pH issue, putting all that blood meal & worm castings might have lowered the pH enough to where the seedlings don't like it.

    Good luck!

  5. Yeah actually I didn't put any blood meal in the pot where the leaves look yellow. I tested the water and its at a PH around 7.2 ish. I will keep an eye on it. It looks like the leaves are bending up a little. Thanks for the input.

  6. 7.2 is a little high.. try to get it down into the 6's
