This is my new journal im attempting to grow 6 Ayuhuaska Purple plants from Barneys farm. I have grew it once before but I had another profile here with a couple journals as far back as 2018 I believe. I could not merge my 2 profiles but ok lol. Anyway 6 plants 4x4 tent ,I have 2 105 watt CFL lights for germination and seedlings and early veg using 1 then both then 600 watts mh then up if needed until im flowering with 1000 hps but have a light lux meter to help me this round hoping big change, I will try to keep a thorough journal but if you have questions please ask me. PLEASE DO NOT POST PICTURES OF YOUR PLANTS IN MY JOURNAL!!! I KEEP TRACK OF YOUR JOURNAL IF YOU STAY UP TO DATE AND I LOVE READING YOUR JOURNAL BUT ILL SEE YOUR PLANTS IN YOUR JOURNAL!!
I'm putting the 6 seeds in a shot glass and if it's chilly weather at night on a heat pad if it's not too hot but regardless I'll keep the seeds warm enough. All 6 seeds look very strong and viable I believe.
After they pop and show a tap root I have a hydro seed germination kit im going to use but I will be doing a soil grow.
I know my hps light is very powerful but it's more than I thought. At around 18 inches above canopy I hit over 100,000 lux while at the sides anywhere from around 35-50 thousand lux but definitely more than plenty for a big center and even good anywhere in the tent I wasn't even taking accurate measures yet just estimate and quick tests. I put the meter right up under the light within 2 inches just to see. Notice it says multiply by 100 which means over 200,000 lux and shut my meter off a couple times because it's not meant for over 200,000 lux. My point being this may not be an led light and may not be cheaper I understand but it will veg or flower the shit out my 4x4 and now with this meter im going to learn how to do a better job. I think this was a good small money investment. 'll
Just this cheap 1 off Amazon @CO BlueGreen. I would post a link but don't know how maybe I can get a screen shot but was like 13$ and deliver around 20$ total.
3 of 6 seeds have cracked in less than or around 24 hours. I'll plant them in the morning and the other 3 will hopefully have cracked by then.
It's kinda hard to see even with the light from my phone but all 6 have cracked and will hopefully sprout but if not I have back up blueberry seeds. I'm about to put these in the sponge rooters
As you can see im using a small cooler to germinate. It will be sitting on top of a heating pad that keeps the cooler around 85 degrees at night time but when im not using the heating pad it's around 70 degrees a little more maybe but no less. First im putting these 6 sponges into water inside the cooler to soak and swell up.
Those sponges are cool. Do they go into a spray/mister unit or something else? I use a polyfoam sponge to root cuttings. I’ll look forward to watching you use them with your seeds.
Next I place the seeds 1 per sponge then I have baskets im placing the sponges in then you put a label at the top and a little dome over the top like a humidity dome until they sprout. Then I'll put a damp cloth towel or something inside the cooler to manipulate the little grow baskets to stand and keep more dampness inside the cooler. Note that im taking is don't place humidity domes on top until you have the grow baskets sturdy in place and even after that they are kinda hard to put on and don't want to stay. Also see the a and b fertilizer? I got this entire 46 plant germination kit that came with the fertilizer and 3 refills for less than 20$ and around 29 delivered to my house. I'm kinda scared to use the fertilizer with seedlings though I really want to.
And I didn't use the plant labels they are aggravating on don't serve enough purposes so I'm not worried about using them.
Now I'll place the cooler with the lid on it until I have sprouts probably within 2-3 days and immediately put 1 105 watt CFL light over the seedlings to start whether I leave them in the cooler or take the plugs out and put them in solo cups but if I leave the plugs in I'll still probably put them in cups until my final transplant.
There are pictures the way im using them but I know they are compatible with clones/clone rooting or those small hydro kits with the built in light. I don't have 1 of those so I'll move them to cups then pots starting with a CFL light immediately after sprout. I learned a little while back if they don't have light right after sprout they immediately stretch.
