So I am an old school grower. Indoor tent 2x2x4. Organic nuits (fox farms). 300 watt LEDs from viper. I was recently gifted 20 seeds of blue dream autos. Put 2 seed in soil 10 weeks ago and was amazed at how fast they took off. Only problem is they were both males. I did what I know. I topped and femmed. I talked to a buddy and he told me no no no leave them alone. I searched the forum and couldn't find anything. I guess my question is what do yall do with your autos? It really goes against anything I have ever been taught to just leave them alone. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
you dont wanna top or fim to much stress on autos they need all the time they can get in veg before they start to auto flower you want them to get as big as they can they dont have the extra time to recover from topping and fimming like photoperiods do
theyll start to flower and make buds under 24 hours of light so theres no extending the veg period to make up for the recovery time from topping and fimming like you can with photoperiods
it doesnt have to be 24 hours of light but some people do it that way i prefer a 20/4 light schedule allows the plant to rest for a bit boosting its overall health and growth in my opinion im still a fairly new grower but have done lots of extensive research for hours every night always something new to learn for growing might wanna check out sea of green and scrogs for your grows also they help improve yields massively
if you wanna get a basic idea of how to set up a cheap scrog thats adjustable in height check out this link How's my first scrog look? i made that for 3$ just wish i woulda used a differnt type of yarn cause this one is stringy and might end up pulling fibers out of my buds for a bit but still gets the job done for cheap and was easily made
I grow nothing but autos, and I love them. Depending on strain, autos can grow huge, and yield huge. There is no set amount of time that they will live, so there's never a race to harvest before they die. Almost anything that can be done with photos can also be done with autos, including topping, training, mainlining, fimming, etc. I just finished getting 13 oz in a 3 x 3 ft tent in 13 weeks from 2 sativa dominant hybrids, after topping and training. But an unhealthy Mephisto ToofDecay only yielded 1 oz, so there is variability in yield. The first ever autos of a decade ago were weak, and not worth growing, but great auto advances have been made since then, and they continue getting better. Anything from mephisto will be excellent.
Here’s what I did to my autos before I knew they were autos. FYI I have no clue where this road leads, onlyvwhere it’s taken me so far... they’re 32 days from sprout. I’ve topped, fimed, mainlined, bent, secured, and tucked lol. Edit: All but the two tallest have underdone multiple toppings in their first 21 days of life. The two tallest had one and two toppings each. NONE after they began to flower.
Can Topping And Training Be Used On Autoflowering Marijuana? - RQS Blog give that article a read before deciding on topping and fimming everything it can be done on autos some people top once just to mainline it for the scrog but alot of times it just hurts your overall yeild in the end stunting growth
just make sure the plant is healthy and able to take the topping or fimming without being stunted and should be alright i wouldnt top or fimm more then once tho imo
An untouched auto will end up just like an untouched photo. Some bush, some Christmas tree. Therefore, I mainline all my autos. So what if it diminishes yield? If I was growing for max yield I would grow photos. The thing is with autos you have about 28 days to top. Typically for a mainline I top the first above the third node at 14 days, second top at 21 days and final 4 cuts to 8 tops at 28 days. After that it is late for topping and time to start lollipopping any new growth because there will not be time for the new growth to mature or grow into the light. You can tie anytime it helps on an auto.
