So I'm 23m, live with parents. I'm a gardener by trade so I know my way around a plant pot. First time growing artificially. Parents very chill about smoking, room always stinks. I know they won't let me grow so I'm gonna try and stealth it. They never come in my room. It sprouted in Apr 3, and looks to be doing well. Trying to train it so it doesn't get too tall. Info: space is about 2ft cubed. Put frozen water bottles in day and night to keep cool 200w led ONA gel being delivered to put around the room. 4 inch extractor fan w/ carbon filter ordered My question is, can I actually pull this off based on my set up and circumstances? Will it stink too much despite the measures I'm taking? My room does usually stink if weed anyway but I assume grown weed smells a lot different... In a side not- I noticed mere hours ago the leaves were drooping. I was due for awa but it wasn't too dry so I have watered it. I've just turned the lights off as I do 11pm-7pm. (18/6). Should I lower it to 16/8 to lower stress?
I mow lawns, prune trees and do general maintenance. This is not something I have done before. Any help would be appreciated
You are risking their home and liberty if this is in a non-compliant State. You simply must put their well being ahead of your desires.
Wrong, he asked if his setup would work. If it were his home the answer would be different and much more helpful. You are implying that he was only seeking encouragement.
Your parents will have to be pretty oblivious to not get caught. Full flower plants are quite smelly as you’ll soon find out. But you didn’t come here to be criticized about growing in your parents house which I’m sure you’re probably well aware of the risks anyway. So to answer your original question, It’s a small space and it’s possible to pull it off but honestly, there’s a high chance you’ll get caught. Fans are loud, plants are smelly, there’s clearly something hidden under that desk, but it’s for sure possible. Hopefully that plant doesn’t get too big. Keep training it down and it should be fine. Temp and humidity management will be tough without loud fans. These plants are prone to bud rot in flower without enough fresh air exchange. Keep us updated either way. Police here would laugh at me for trying like this. As for extractor fan being too loud we live in an old house with them living 3rd floor with me in second. It's only a 4inch so I'm hoping it's not too loud They never come in my room, or they haven't in years so it would be unfortunate if they did. My room always smells anyway as I'm a heavy smoker but I work hard so they're fine with it. I'm trying to save money by growing to get my own place faster... Good point about the bud rot... I will think on it, and please post if you happen to think of anything. I think I will remove a few leaves closer to the time to open it up and have 3 hand held as battery fans located around (rechargeable batteries at hand) I will keep you updated as I modify the set up and as the plant grows. I'm changing the light schedule from 20/4 to 18/6 as it looked to be too intense for the plant. Thanks to those again who gave well meaning replies
Looking at your setup first thought that comes to mind is mold, i would be shocked if you didn't have issues with it..you really need airflow, it's paramount and as far as smell, it's very much strain dependent/ amount of plants..It's going to smell but it may not be as bad as you think with one plant especially if it already smells from smoking..I have to be semi-discreet and i haven't used my carbon filter on my last 2 runs (4 plants each run), the smell didn't really leave the room and couldn't be smelled at all downstairs..Good luck man, don't get your parents fined
Why not 12/12 from seed with such a little spot?..prob what i would do..that space will be overgrown fast...
I've looked into... I will sterilise the setup tomorrow incase i have brought anything into it. I'll need to keep the humidity low and the little fans positioned correctly around a singular plant might be enough. Other than that I will wash my hands before checking the plant. I opted for northern lights auto off RQS which apparently is low odour anyway. I am only planning to have one at a time, possible planting the new seed 2w before harvest to speed things up a bit. I'm in UK by the way, it wouldn't be a big deal if I was caught like that. Thanks for your suggestions!
