Can some one please explain the big hype on autos ? Your plants just automatically flower right ? No what what light schedule ? So you have less control over your grow ?
I dont know much but i know it works well for people who live at higher latitutes and sun exposure is different from like 35° lat. A regular plant crossed with an auto makes it flower in latitutes like 45° lat or 50° Hope it helps
Especially tropical sativas like some colombian or thais they need equatorial sun in order to unduce flower. If its above latitute it will never flower. It will just re veg and/or flower so slowly
-Whatever light schedule you want. -Good for outdoors if you don't want to worry about seasons. -Nice side grow to have in your vegging room. -Easy perpetual grow -Tend to grow pretty short Etc. Never tried them, but would love to do a perpetual grow with them. Sent from my iPhone using Grasscity Forum mobile app
You'd kinda have to do perpetual wouldn't you?...They're 1 and done. Can't keep the strain alive. Sounds expensive to me always having to re-up on beans. Just my opinion...doesn't mean I'm right...lol.
i think they finish faster. honestly other then outside grow i dont see a use for them edit:L you could grow on inside your veg area i guess if you have empty space.
Well when I say perpetual I mean cycling them. Ex: adding a plant in every two weeks. So by your first harvest, you'll start to harvest a single plant every two weeks. Constant flow of weed coming in. Never done it, but I like the idea of it. Especially since it would only require one grow room instead of two. Sent from my iPhone using Grasscity Forum mobile app
20/4 lights 90days or so from seed to harvest Smaller pots, more plants More cycles in a year. Great for home grower with limited space. Most ppl can pull 2-4 oz off one. The world record is 1100 something grams. ~Ronin Fresh Ronins Paradise
I agree, auto yield is measured in years not per plant. I run mine 24/0 germ to harvest. No need for a tent because I have no need for total darkness. Plus now I have long breaks between grows and I like the rest. I know I can start smoking soon after I plant. But the one drawback is the seeds are kind of expensive.
I've never personally grown an Auto type cannabis plant, but have been told that they are not as strong as average photoperiod ("normal") cannabis plants grown side by side due to the Ruderalis mix in the genetics. Can anyone confirm or deny? Are there any actual peer reviewed studies on this? It would make sense that this were true. J
Hi Jerry Just wanna say thank you for everything you've done. You sure convinced me to start organic, on my first grow, on .growing without bottles" thread IIRC i.e. thread name. If i was going to do it, i was gonna do it the best/right way. I searched and found this but they're just statements. But i do know that when dealing with F1 you're gonna have different varieties of both cultivars. I think breeders stabilize it before releasing it. I mean thats what an honest breeder will do. And you can have ok yield not low from an auto. Correct me if I'm wrong anyone. The 4 Myths of Auto-flowering Plants - Seedsman Blog
that article was written by someone who sells autos so of course hes gonna claim they are just as good. but i seriously cannot believe a 35 day plant can be as potent as a 20 week plant.
I can tell you for a fact this auto I'm smoking is so potent it should be illegal. And the whole reason I switched was because that indica I was growing was more like heroin, and this auto has a little sativa in it and is very easy to grow and it is the perfect stone for me personally.
I can't confirm but my recent experience in looking for low THC high CBD strains found that the vast majority were autos. Other than that, the "web says" that Ruderalis species is low in THC.
I'm totally on the same page as you. I've been on the hunt for milder strains of cannabis and found myself looking at autos because of this. Getting blazed doesn't really fit into my lifestyle these years but I enjoy smoking jays. I just harvested a strain that was my first auto and purported to be low THC high CBD. It seemed pretty genetically poorly constructed or I just need to grow it differently. It started flowering within weeks and ended up being basically a short ball of 3 or 4 giant buds. Packed so tight one of them had mold, I'm pretty sure. Next time I'm going to keep the light high to get it to stretch early on.
yes, 3 weeks is normal. I run my autos 24/0 germ to harvest. And I only harvest the best buds. I never run my fan in the wintertime when the air is dry and outside temps are cold, and then run it 24/0 when it starts getting warm and humid because you are correct, autos can be a little more susceptable to mold because of their genetic history or the way they grow. otherwise, I don't know about low thc high cbd. I need some pain killer but I don't like to be pinned to the couch and I do really like to get high.
Jerry, IME with the autos I have grown potency seems to be on point. It compares with what my local dispensary has hands down in most cases. And I had one bad ass blue cheese photo and my alien v triangle is right with it. My .2 ~Ronin Fresh Ronins Paradise
