I have some 34 day old, auto Northern lights going and they're extremely leafy and they are also short but bushy. So lot much light is getting through to the new buds despite LST. It's my first grow so I'm not sure if should pull any leaves or not. Or how to really go about it if I do. Sent from my LG-D801 using Tapatalk
I'm no expert but everything I've read about autos is to minimize stress. Pulling leaves is definitely stressful to the plant. The leaves serve to respirate and generate energy for the plant, more leaves the better. I was told that tighter nodes are good as well. Good luck..
post pics my friend ....many will debate that taking leaves off screws the plant...where others SWEAR by taking the CORRECT leaves off ..increases yield... BOTH are correct....it can fuck it up. and it can enhance the plant....each plant is an individual that has to be looked at case by case ..so do post the pics. Those leaves are solar panels supplying the whole plant with energy, including the buds. It's not just the bud leaves themselves that feed the buds. As a thought experiment, imagine what would happen if you cut every leaf off of the plant, except for the bud leaves. My understanding is that pruning can lead to bigger buds, but less total yield. I've seen claims to the contrary, but no scientific proof. Not knowing how to do a questionable procedure makes not doing it the wiser choice. Your goal shouldn't be big yield. It should just be getting through your first grow with acceptable yield.
The great defoliation debate. On my current grow, I am going to pick my best 2 plants defoliate one of the 2. And do a side by side comparison at the end. I am curious myself. I am also growing autos BTW. My current 6 Jock Horror Autos, coco coir grow.
Auto Flower Defoilation..: Can't think of an easier way to Herm an Auto if thats what you want Stay Sharp!
Just defoliated 6 autos. Let you know how i get on =) i expect everything will be fantastic Sent from my Redmi Note 4 using Grasscity Forum mobile app
Instead of cutting the leaves. I used a piece of wire to pull down without breaking the skin of the plant. Allowing more light to get into the middle growth. No trimming. No stress.
