Auto AK-47: Setup + Grow Box Dimensions in inches: H 16,5 x L 11 x B 6,9 My aim is to keep this grow as simple and organic as possible. My goal is to get at least 15 grams dry out of this tiny box. Week 1: Planted seed, without germinating first, in soil on Wednesday 08/12/2010 at 20:30. Today 11/12/2010 at 20:30, seed has sprouted.
Week 2: It's exactly 7 days after I planted the seed, ungerminated, and so far it's looking very healthy. She's staying low and broadening out nicely. Length of main leaves combined is 4.3cm.
I'm interested to see how this plays out. I'm not sure about the strain though. AK47 is a sativa dominant strain which makes it taller and more strechy and you don't have much space. With CFL's the rule of thumb is 100 Watts per plant but I vegged two plants with just 75 W and it worked fine so maybe you'll be ok. Definitely LST them. Heas the bonsai pot have holes in the bottom for drainage? If not it would be a good idea to drill some and have a plate or something underneath it to catch the runoff after watering. Also are you using any kind of nutes? Hope this helps even the slightest and I'll be passing through often. Peace
Haha, hell, you must be really patient/desperate to wait 3 months for a bean to pop. It's actually only a few countries that use the mm/dd/yyyy format! @cubbaa: I've had some criticism about the lights already, but I think this 45er will do the job. The space is tiny. I will definately be LSTing. Yea, the pot is stylish and has a drip tray. If you look at the 5th picture you should see a dividing line at the bottom. I won't be nuting for a while, maybe the 4th week and when I do it'll be a mild nute/guano mix. Thanks for stopping by.
Oh right I see the tray thing now.. kinda missed it when I first looked Anyway, I wish you all the best with the grow.
Hi there Mattsta i'm currently at the excatly same spot as yourself with the same strain.. be good to compare grows wish you all the best with it..
Hey man, would be awesome. Send me a link to your grow. What setup you growing out of? Mine's tiny, so our bud result might differ. Will post pics later. Today is day 14.
Look great id say. Subscribed.... Im going to take a seat and enjoy the hie i mean ride lol. Im waiting on some beans my self. Ordered me afghan kush ryder and super lemon haze fem. Keep us updated on your progress.
Looking mighty fine, Mattste. I'm interested to see how LST'ing affects an auto. I've heard that it can lower yield if you don't get that single dominant cola (from topping before LST), but every plant is different. You've got limited headroom, so in this situation LST will likely maximize your yield. Definitely will be fun to watch this play out. Are you doing anything about the eventual odor?
@TC: Thanks man. This plant is still really low, so I haven't bothered training her just yet, but I topped her today, so cheers for the heads up. As for odor. The light trap on my first exhaust fan channels the air right onto an ONA blocker in the electrical cab, which then gets pulled out the back exhaust. I'm to lazy and couldn't be bothered to build a carbon scrubber. Appreciate the input. M
18 days from seed. Nodes coming along. The topping has worked out. I don't like how 2 of these big ass fan leaves are blocking out some of the light to the bottom nodes. I might trim.
Beautiful. Indica's tend to shade a lot of the lower growth. Further trimming is probably going to detract from your overall yield as growth slows slightly to make up for the stress. Once those two tops get larger, and longer, you can tie them down more horizontally to allow for better light distribution. Be mindful, however that buds typically grow on vertical branches rather than on horizontal ones. When you tie them down, the secondary branches will reach for the light and create the tops. Too much tying down, especially with autos which have a limited veg period, can adversely affect yield.
Thanks all, I try sticking to the LITFA method. But things have started looking strange on the some of the leaves. Seems that a few tiny yellow dots have formed and ever-so-faint rust creeping in. At first I thought it was heat or PH, but those all cleared. I feel I might have a pest problem. I have not seen anything, but I don't own a magnifying glass either. In the mean time I will be treating her for spider mites. I watered well, gave her a good spraying simply with water and wiped all the leaves where possible. I'll try and keep the humidity up and see if that helps. Otherwise I will have to go to the store and get something stronger.
Brownish yellow dots could meen spider mites like you say. Look for small white webs on the undersides of leaves and near nodes. you should definitely invest in some neem oil / extract spray. I picked mine up from the garden store for like a fiver. It works wonders! I sprayed the plants with it three times i think and the mites were gone. Sprey her with lots of water and pay close attention to undersides of leaves. Mites can be real bastards! Hope everything works out though
Thanks cubaa, I got some neem and applied it the day before yesterday. Will use some more today. So, pics from Day 21. She's stinking up nicely already, so I put in my ONA block. I have noticed some leaf munching going on, whatever the cause I'm hoping the neem takes care of it. See last 2 pics. Otherwise looks healthy.
