Authentic Genetics Skunk #1

Discussion in 'Indoor Grow Journals' started by ozarksmokehouse, Jun 8, 2023.

  1. Time to raise a real stink with some skunk#1. Allegedly, these seeds came from Skunkman Sam back in '83.

I planted four in peat pellets to start the germination process.

  2. Gonna follow this

    Skunk is the source

  3. Got my light today, vipraspectra p1000. Saw a few seeds sprouting so I should have some seedlings by the end of the week.

  5. It depends on how long the veg cycle is. I plan to veg for 4-6 weeks and keep them small. The P1000 produces around 900 par 12 inches from the light. Pretty good light for a 2×2 area.

  7. Try reducing your file size.

  8. It will be interesting to see how yours grows. I grew a Skunk strain back in the 80's and have never found the genetics again since that one grow. Mine was a fat leaved indica dominant plant of around 6' tall and nearly as wide. It smelled very strongly of a fresh skunk scent.

  9. i sampled some dang fine Skunk back in the day. I'll pull up a bucket as they say.

  10. I've had to crop every photo I've uploaded, not sure if it's the size or file name length

  12. All four seeds are germinated and one is over 1 inch. In my experience, the first biggest plants are always male. To save space and take better advantage of energy consumption, I'm planting two seedlings in 3 gallon air pots. If one is a male or one in each pot then it puts both females closer to center of the light where PAR values are highest.

I'm using Scott's premium top soil. This stuff is pretty good for $2.50. Don't even need perlite but mixed it in anyway because I had a partial bag.

I'm also going to run the light 24 hours during veg, it does make plants grow faster.

  13. I'd say you have plenty of time to move those pots around & get sex's etc figured out before later in the grow if scrog or lst & you can't move them. I have a personal thing against scotts products.

  14. Soil and light are working out really good. Not stretchy, no light burn, and the roots are getting plenty of oxygen.

  15. Added rabbit manure. A long time ago me and friend grew some NL#5 and filled the holes with pure rabbit manure and the plants exploded even though they were partially shaded in the woods.

  16. It is good fertilizer I used to have a pet rabbit and I would save manure up and age it

  17. I'm not sure that would be possible as it was between 1979-1981 when I grew that plant. I believe Skunk #1 came out in the early 70's. I don't believe the Hawaiian skunk cross came out until the early 2000's.

  18. Cultivators Choice went out of business in the 80's. It was owned by Sam the Skunkman and Seedbay has the seeds. A friend of mine from Northern CA brought to the Ozarks and grew it around '85. He also had connections in Mexico to get Mexican red hair skunk. It was the second best I ever smelled. It probably originated from Panama since true Mexican sativa isn't red. The buds were as big as my forearm and weighed one ounce. I'm one of the few people who honestly say one the best strains I ever smoked came from Mexico LOL.
