  1. Ionic Bloom and Ionic Boost have always worked brilliantly for me and are very easy to use - plus they do a hard water version for, uh, hard water areas

and it's available in a variety of sizes and nearly every grow shop in the UK stock it

  2. Awesome ill pick some up tommorow, thanks man.

I now officially have 2 females by the way. There were balls yesterday but today they have two little white hairs protuding from them!!!

Just had to let you know! If you care.

  3. nice - the more females the better I find ;)

use the Bloom at 50% strength for a week then if your plants aren't showing any side effects add the Boost at 50% strength - then if after a week your plants arent showing side effects up the strength of the Bloom by 10% weekly until you're at full strength - I doubt you'll need more Boost so keep that at 50%

oh and if i remember correctly the Bloom will drop the pH of tap water (cant vary too much across the UK) to around 5.8 - 6.0 which is a result

also Boost doesnt affect the ph so you shouldnt need to ph up or down when you start using it

    :smoking:

  4. Ok i picked up some of that Ionic Bloom stuff. Havent used it yet, as nothing needs it just yet. Since the temp dropped about 5 degrees, it seems to take longer for the soil to dry, makes sense. Hope that doesnt become a mould issue.

So i just got down from the loft, and they have all grown roughly 1/2 - 3/4 of an inch, which for 2 days is nice, fuckin sexy infact. Having to constantly raise the lights now. Heres a couple of pics of them so far, the middle front one is well over a foot tall now, only the back right one is lagging behind.

Oh and three confirmed females. One looks like it will be a male, however its still a little early to tell, it could sprout "trichomes"? yet, we will have to wait and see.

  5. Sweet man! 3 females that's pretty badass, I must say. Oh and the word you are looking for is 'pistils', those are the 2 hair like structures that signify your plant is a female. Basically, those are the 'naughty bits' (as my Botany teacher would call them). In breeding a tiny pollen grain falls down a tube inside the pistil where it meets with the ovules and produces a seed. Trichomes are simply plant hairs and can occur on male or female plants, good guess though.

  6. Sigh...Found what should be sprouting pistils on my biggest, two of them on the very top growth, little early to tell but i have a feeling its a male. Id put a picture up but my camera is way to shite, anything closer than about 8 inches and its just a blur. Think i have 2 males now, not sure yet, but its lookin that way.

The biggest & strongest plant, that has shown both excellent growth and resilience to my practically killing it via dehydration, would be a fuckin male wouldnt it. Fuck sake.

Been shooting all day in the woods, bought myself a Ratcatcher! Like you care.

  7. Hey man, how's it going? Congrats on the females. :) Hope you kicked the males in the goolies.

How you coping with the temp drop overnight? It's getting cold huh? Makes me grateful for the hps, although I'm still struggling to keep temps up. UK weather sucks ass.

Er, nice gun thingy. (I don't really appreciate it, I'm a girl afterall*, but you seemed so pleased with it that I thought I'd say something nice! ;))

*apologies to any girly snipers out there.

  8. :p shooting is without a doubt a mans passtime, think its somethin to do with the contrast of nature's serentity with humanities violent tendancies. Or maybe its just fun killin pigeons, they shit on my car after all. So fuck them.

    Little worried about 3 things...sigh...

    1) Temp is dropping very low at night, i have no way of counteracting this, only forward planning could have prevented it. (however they dont seem to be showing any signs of stress/illness because of this)

    2) Some of the leaf tips are browning, however its not substantial so im not panicing just yet.

    3) And this one is gonna be a problem, i can feel it: As the temp is so low up there, the pots are taking much longer to dry out, and tonight i checked on them, and there was a light hint of a white coating on the soil (suspecting mould). Also the soil is now pretty hard on the surface, as appose to one week ago when it crumbled to touch. I picked the wrong time of year for this shit. Especially in the attic.

Ill get some pics up tommorow, but again, my camera is abyssmal, but ill try.

  9. dont worry about the low temps mate - weed is fucking resilient as hell and most strains will actually produce more crystal to protect itself from the cold at night so it can be a good thing when you're flowering

as for the mold on the soil you should back off the water a touch now the lights are on 12/12 and try a covering of hydroton on the top of the soil - this can help - although if there is a lot of mold it can take hold under the hydroton - I would let the soil dry out completely - that'll kill the mold - then cover with hydroton and water

i know how you feel about the biggest plants being male - I had to rip another male today and it was huge - plus another big female looks like it could be a hermaphrodite now - ho hum

btw, I used to go lamping all the time with my mate - still do occassionally - love the taste of freshly killed rabbit stew - barbaric I know but damn tasty lol

  10. Used the Ionic Bloom @ 50% strength, hoping i see some growth spurting as im 7 days into flower and they dont seem to have grown that much. 2 inches max, however i was under the impression they would grow much faster than that once in flower. Oh well.

Oh and by the way, 5 out of 6 of them are females...Lol, i should be happy, but that means i have to buy more light, i was hoping to chop down to 3 or 4.

Turns out my biggest is a female, just waiting for the last one to show sex, its lagging behind in maturity and size.

Ill update with some pics when theres a change.

  11. dont worry fella - some strains almost completely stop growing in height for the first week to ten days when you put them into flowering - then whooosh they take off again

  12. subscribing, nice work

  13. Fuckin booya, went in the loft today and all but one have grown around an inch, OVERNIGHT!! Fuckin tastycakes. I think i was wrong about one of the females, i seem to remember seeing pistils on it, but i cant seem to find it now. So back down to 4/6! which is fine by me, thats the magic number as far as im concerned. Just wish i had a better camera so i could show you some plant reproductive organ porn.

Seems kinda dumb, if i only want four, why dont i chop the two weakest now and be done with it? hmm. Any ideas when i should start to see bud? im 8 days into flower now!!1

The mould problem seems to have gone away, but then again, the temp has picked up by around 5 degrees in the last few days.

    Pics below.

P.S. Smokeandmirrors, i treated them with that Ionic Bloom and overnight its like BAM, thanks for the tip off.

  14. no problem - i've been using it for over ten years and swear by it - very easy to use and it reduces pH which is great for UK tap water as our tap water tends to come out at between 7.0 & 7.8 ;)

  15. Was just reading the do's and dont's section on the noob forum here and i have a question!

"10/ Fertilise approx once every 2 weeks "Overfertilizing and overwatering kills more plants than the government does every year."....to quote BPP...........some growers will use more ferts and more frequently, but until you have a few grows under your belt, it's best to KISS....(Keep It Simple Stupid)"

So like...Does that mean i shouldnt be using ferts every time i water? Thats what ive been doing, everytime they've needed watering ive been using the water that i mixed the ferts with. I mean i have PH neutral water i can use, so, should i alternate my watering from ferted water to standard water to ferted water etc...Or am i just reading into it too much?

    ~bush

  16. chill out and just keep doing what you're doing - in the post you refer to he talks about adding too much fert to the water you then feed your plants with and not the frequency

just to be clear - yes - you should always water your plants with the ferts added in at the right concentration

except when you're flushing the plants at the end of the grow or you're starting off with seeds/seedlings

  17. Im facing some problems here, the plants are all healthy and looking strong, not growing as fast as id hoped but i half expected this, my light situation isnt ideal. Im faced with a decision to make, i have 2 choices.

    1) Axe two of the fuckers and focus my light on 4, that should be enough to take them all the way.

    2) Convince my girlfriend to let me buy another envirolite, which will guarantee me a decent yield, however the electric bill is bad enough as it is at the moment.

Obviously i dont want to axe 2, even though one has pretty much stopped growing while the others have left it behind, but I may not have a choice. So i need a favour from you guys, i need everyone who reads this and thinks i should grow all six, to post simply saying
"Dont be a bitch, let him have more light" If you dont mind guys and ill show her the posts if i get any.

So here some pics, the one at the front left is pushing two feet, fuckin awesome. by the way I have 6/6 females, only wanted four, i blame the banana! AND i dicovered what looks like a bud on one, right at the top, cola i think its called.

  18. Don't be a bitch, let him have more light! :)

  19. After some negotiation, showing the missus the growing buds, and a bottle of wine I was able to convice her to let me buy another 105 watt 2700k envirolite, ordered yesterday. Im hoping it should be here by Wednesday. Man i should have just bought 1 x 400 watt HPS with the wattage im using!!! Then again this means i can stop using my veg spec bulbs.

Im now at 70% strength on the Ionic Bloom, increasing by an additional 10% on the next watering. 5/6 now have around 1 inch cola's, however i have a straggler, hasnt grown in almost 2 weeks, looks healthy enough, just isnt growing (about half the size of a the rest) :/

The bud sites are apparent now and i can see what im gonna be dealing with come harvest time. Although this is my first grow, im gonna make an educated guess that the harvest isnt going to be that big, probably looking at around 3ish ounces over 6 plants. Which is fine with me, first attempt, and ive screwed up a few times and learned a lot, pots are too shallow, underwatered, lack of light for the first month or so etc...

Lights come on @ 7pm, going to try and get some pics of the cola's for you guys, although my camera is genuinely terrible, ill do the best i can, chances are it will be blurry as hell.

By the way, id appreciate any comments/criticisms, as im just trying to get better at this, any info may help! I've done a lot of reading relating to vegging, but im still a newb when it comes to flowering, so any tips would be awesome.

    Thanks

    ~Bush

  20. let them veg longer, my plants are at least 3x larger (height). get a hps too, i veg with flouros and flower with 400w hps

when you get the hps, make sure you have a fan blowing across the bulb to cut down on the heat that sucker will put out
