Ate a firecracker about an hour ago...

Discussion in 'Weed Edibles' started by Endy08, Jan 27, 2011.

  1. it was using the no bake method. i used skippy (i think) brand peanut butter, mixed the pb with extra virgin olive oil in a bowl (because the pb had no peanut oil), sprinkled on .4g of mids or so, and put it all on a graham cracker... it sat out for about 48 hours and then i ate it.

as far as i can tell, it's kind of working, but all i've got is a light head buzz and droopy eyes... this will be like coming down for the next few hours if i don't get any higher... and i'd like to be higher...

so i guess my question is will it get any more powerful, or do you think i am stuck here? like i said, it's been close to an hour since i ate it...

  2. I was under the impression you had to cook Cannabis to make it active....

  3. I don't think 48 hours is NEARLY enough time for a no-bake. Depending on you tolerence, that may not have been enough herb.

  4. nope. the oil will extract the thc over time. cooking it just speeds up the process.

thanks man. you may be right... i hope not though. i saw that sitting a no bake out overnight makes it good to eat though, and up to a week makes it progressively better.

i only used .4 gs because that's all i had for the next week or so. i was really hoping for it to work. lol

    oh well. it's an experience.

  5. It takes anywhere from several weeks to several months, depending how fresh, old or decarboxylated the material was, for cannabinoids to become fully available when using a heat-less oil extraction for edibles. Processing any less, will result in a large waste of active material.

  6. Hey, at least you learned something!

  7. 48 hours is PLENTY of time

Edibles don't seem full on until hour number 2.
    Just wait a bit man.

edit; .4 grams isn't enough though

  8. i have no background in science, but i think i will bake mine next time. lol

very very true. could have gotten high 4 more times with my hitter. haha i think i'm going to wait until i have a bit more money to throw around before i make another attempt at edibles though.

yeah. i knew it was going to be a little short, but this is my first time with edibles. also, that was the very last of my bag... now i need to save up $30 again. damn.

  9. That's why the processing time is severely lacking, .4 grams should be plenty of material for an average smoker if the edible is made properly. Good edibles will kick in strong, in well under an hour. When an edible is made well, with patience and care, it takes much, much less material than you would need to smoke, in order to achieve a much stronger, more narcotic effect.

Otherwise vapor-poo would do virtually nothing to those who use it for cooking, but because the material was already activated (decarbed), it goes much, much further. So much so, that you can get high from a small quantity not only once from vaping, but then again in the form of an edible. :)

  10. .4 unless its dank is NOT enough herb for a strong edible.

Also, cook those firecrackers! The uncooked method is inconsistent, and you don't want to end up wasting your herb. Cooking it will basically guarantee effectiveness.

  11. Why wouldn't you use the oven though? I've never heard of letting them just sit out so I really can't help you, but oven works great so why not just use that

  12. Then why do most of the dispensaries including those I've worked with sell edibles with .15g - .3g, that knock peoples socks off?

Because, they are made well :)

Edibles will absolutely work to some degree if you under-process them, I'm not arguing whether or not you'll feel 'something', but they take much longer to kick in (2+ hours in some cases) and they don't last nearly as long, or provide nearly the narcotic effect that a good edible should have.
I'm not even sure if the fellow decarbed his material, if not, then 2 days with zero heat, is positively no where near enough time. Your body expels the remaining potency as waste. This is why people feel the need to waste extra herb using far more than needed when they are impatient, in order to achieve the edible high they desire, when it's not at all necessary if they took the time to do it properly.

A few days sitting in cold oil, is not nearly enough time to remove the carboxy group or cause the THC to become psychoactive. It needs either heat, or excessive drying. It's much easier to make a heatless edible with pure oils as well, peanut butter has water in it among other things, which will severely hinder the room-temp evaporation of the water contained within the THC.

It's just common knowledge in the canna kitchens I've frequented for decades, I've had plenty of pre-mature edibles made with more processing than the firecracker above, and they really don't do anywhere near, what a properly made bit of medicine can do.

"Marijuana produces THCA, an acid with the carboxylic group (COOH) attached. In its acid form, THC is not very active. It is only when the carboxyl group is removed that THC becomes psychoactive. When marijuana is smoked, the THC behind the hot spot is vaporized as the hot air from the burn is drawn through the joint or pipe bowl to the unburned material. The liquid THC and other cannabinoids have a boiling point of between 180-200? C (355-392? F). Before they turn gaseous, at around 106? C (220? F), the carboxyl group is released from the molecule as carbon dioxide and water vapor.

Cannabis can also be placed in a food dehydrator to remove the carboxyl group. Although the heat in the food dehydrator doesn't rise to 106? C, the temperature is warm enough to promote drying and the release of the water and CO2. When the marijuana is crispy and brittle you can be assured that the carboxyl group has been removed from the cannabinoids and they are ready for extraction or removal from the plant material." - Decarboxylation | Cannabis Culture Magazine

.15g-.3g of WHAT is the question? .15-.3g of hash, oil, kief, ect is a hell of a lot stronger than .3-.4 dank. It also depends on the edible. Firecracker are good for their efficiency, speed, and effectiveness.

But find out for yourself. Put .3 mids on a firecracker, then put .6 on another. One will do jack shit, the other will make ya feel goooood

  14. Personally, I don't use firecrackers. They are well known as an inefficient or 'last resort' method of creating an edible, when you for whatever reason have no other tools, or security is an issue. If it was that easy, then so many people wouldn't fail so miserably. I've spent decades making quality oils, capsules, candies and cakes for different sources around the globe, firecrackers just don't appeal to me or have any place in my work :)

  15. One can make a quality firecracker if done right. That's what I do in my line of work :)

that being said, even if you made a microbatch of cannabutter with .3 mid you would be SOL. Compaired to .6 of mids.

You need more cannabis than with smoking to achieve the high, this is well known.

  16. Aha, precisely. A higher quality firecracker can be made, when done properly.

And here I was, thinking you were insisting this 48hours in a cold oil would be fine

So which is it, processing time and heat helps, or it doesn't?

  17. Lol of course not, I am completely against the no-heat edibles stuff. I've personally tried twice and neither worked. No heat would require huge amounts of time to extract, to the point where it's not worth it.

  18. Now that you've edited this, it is quite the opposite. Under processing has given people the false impression they need more. But again, when made well, you need less material to achieve a more narcotic effect.

It is very consistent that those who feel processing isn't as necessary, are the same people who feel that more herb is required for the correct effect, while those who understand the processing required, understand less is needed for the same reason that vaporization is more efficient; when you are not burning, combusting and damaging the material, you are wasting less of it.
However if you under-process an edible, you will waste more material, than you would when combusting, and it would make sense why one would assume they needed more.

  19. " Why Edibles

    Why Medical Marijuana Edibles?

    * Smoking is passé. The smoke you exhale gets on your clothes, your furniture, your drapes and probably your dog. You won’t miss the cough.
    * Medical marijuana edibles are more efficient. When you smoke, you exhale a good portion of the THC as well as smoke. Digestion is a much more effective delivery system.
    * Dosing is more controllable with medical marijuana edibles. You know what you’re getting and you know you’re getting the correct amount of medical marijuana for your specific needs.
    * Medical marijuana edibles can be packed with nutrients. Medical marijuana edibles made with organic products and nutritious ingredients also tend to be tastier.
    * The effects of medical marijuana edibles last much longer than smoking. You won’t need to keep packing a pipe or rolling another one.

    Why Conscious Cannabis Consumables?

We’re serious about what we do (and what we don’t do). We produce nutrition-packed gourmet-quality medical marijuana edibles, not sugar-confetti laden “Rice Krispy Treats” and other “kid-oriented” items normally found at medical marijuana dispensaries. We won’t be making soda or lolipops. We prefer that our products not be attractive to children and package our products so as not to display the contents. Folks can always view our products here on the website.

We use only the finest quality ingredients (organic whenever possible) to prepare our medical marijuana edibles. Each of our products is evaluated by our staff of unpaid volunteers to assure dosage as well as culinary satisfaction. We continuously improve our products based on their feedback.

At Conscious Cannabis Consumables, we don’t necessarily want to be the biggest distributor of medical marijuana (cannabis) edibles, we just want to be the best!

    Medical Marijuana Edibles Dosing:

Conscious Cannabis Consumables has done research with our products (thanks again to all who participated) to establish a dose that provides consistent effects. Other medical marijuana edibles manufacturers were researched as well and our dosing is equivalent or slightly higher than that of comparable products.

A “dose” of Conscious Cannabis Consumables medical marijuana edibles is the equivalent of 1/3 gram of smoke-quality leaf/bud. - (this is precisely my experience in the industry, world-wide -BKS) That’s basically a good-sized pipe-load or roller. Considering that the effects last approximately three times longer than smoking, that makes medical marijuana edibles very cost-effective!

    Storing Medical Marijuana Edibles:

Like any other food product, proper storage is important for maintaining the taste and effectiveness of medical marijuana edibles. Conscious Cannabis Consumables products are prepared fresh and quick-frozen to preserve freshness.

Like any other frozen food product, medical marijuana edibles are best consumed within one month of freezing. Although frozen medical marijuana edibles will actually last several months the taste and effectiveness will diminish after the first month. Conscious Cannabis Consumables products are date-coded with a “Best By” date one month from manufacture.

    Tips for thawing or re-heating:

    * If possible, DO NOT MICROWAVE! Microwave ovens vary in power output, making temperature control difficult. Too much heat can diminish the effects of the cannabutter in medical marijuana edibles.
    * When re-heating or baking, never let the temperature exceed 325 degrees F. Higher temperatures will diminish the effects and may effect the texture of the product.
    * It’s best to thaw any frozen food in the refrigerator. If you thaw at room temperature, keep track of the time. As with any previously frozen food, it’s best to consume within a day or two.

    Why our Cannabutter is better:

Note: Click on pictures to enlarge.

The cannabutter we use for Conscious Cannabis Consumables medical marijuana edible products starts with the finest strains of cannabis grown indoors under strict environmental controls using the highest quality organic soil and organic fertilizers.

Conscious Cannabis Consumables “Budder” stock is made with copious amounts of “popcorn” buds. These are the smaller buds found on the branches supporting the bud tops of the marijuana plant. The popcorn buds range in size from about one-half inch to one inch and are surrounded by leaf clusters that are dusted with THC-laden crystals. "

So basically, the ediles are made with .33g of the dankest danks... which is roughly how much I said was a good dosage for firecrackers...?

I'll put it this way, I can get a good buzz SMOKING .55 mids, but I can be REALLY high if I cook .55 mids. But the same is not true around .3 mids. The high I get from smoking it is actually more intense than eating .3 mids.
