Astral Projection/Lucid Dreaming (long read)

1. Anyone mess around in this stuff?

I have been doing it for around 5 years or so, and have achieved lucidity on many occasions.

But as for Astral Projection... Today was the first time.

It was around 2pm and I was feeling like taking a nap, I might add that I've been sober all day. I laid in my bed for around a half hour when I started feeling lucidity coming on. So I was like what ever, and tried to let it make me dream. Instead, I was jammed so deep in my subconscious is scared me at first! But then I was like wait! My spirits trying to project, and I was ecstatic! I laid there and it happened again, think of the greatest body buzz you've ever had and multiply it 1000...

I felt as though I was losing myself.

In a matter of 5 seconds I was out, looking at my body laying there, I was in a place of total peace and comfort.

I looked down and saw my iPhone in my bodies hand, and on the screen was a vast spectrum of colors moving in a tunnel motion. I moved my astral body towards it, and it got bigger and bigger.

I climbed inside.

I was like one of those skydiving simulations where the fan pushes you up, instead of down. I was soaring up at crazy speeds. When I made it to the "top" I believe I reached the astral plane.

Anything I would like to see, it was there. I remember casually pulling out a cigarette and smoking in the plane. The astral plain (for me) was all different shades of orange. The shades changed with every passing moment.

There were "creatures" there... Stuff I've never seen before.

I can't put the rest into words.

2. Also, I never once saw my body. I felt at peace with everything, and so free. No human feelings to restrain my abilities.

3. thats cool man... ive only experienced obe's/projections for brief moments... it really does feel amazing tho

4.
thats cool man... ive only experienced obe's/projections for brief moments... it really does feel amazing tho
It's like entering the matrix.... Lol

5. never actually left my body and saw my self laying down.. although i have left and ended up somewhere else for a brief period.

6. Any way to induce an astral plain much like lucid dreaming?

7. People often argue that an OBE is simply a type of lucid dream. I personally, think that the OBE phenomenon is something more than a lucid dream. Now I can't back this up(yeah I know =P) but an OBE is often interpreted differently than just a dream. I'm not saying you are actually out of your body but the sensation is pretty real in itself.

Cool experience btw! I am trying to practice my lucidity.

8. So you saw your body laying there, iPhone in hand, but you never once seen your body?

9.
So you saw your body laying there, iPhone in hand, but you never once seen your body?
??? Huh??? I saw my body.

:confused_2:

10.
So you saw your body laying there, iPhone in hand, but you never once seen your body?
Ohohoh!

What I meant in that double post, is that while in the astral plain, I was an embodiment of energy rather than an earthly body.

11. That's neat. I would like to get to that point someday.

12. In this post I will try to help some of the folks who are eager to go out of body and I will present to the finest details how to do it. It is going to be a lengthy post so you can simply skip to the specific techniques if you already know which techniques are direct, indirect and so on, which I will explain in my first few paragraphs.

Techniques for Out of Body Experiences

There are 3 main methods of achieving a conscious experience outside your body – indirect technique, direct technique and becoming lucid while in your dream. Such experiences are generalized as Out of Body Experiences. Indirect techniques are performed upon awakening. When we dream, our consciousness is projected onto the astral body to recharge during the night. Dreams are indeed out of body experiences. However, they are not conscious ones so we don’t value them that much. When we awake, the connection between the astral and physical body is very weak and it is very easy for us to project ourselves back onto the astral body, where we were moments ago while sleeping. Indirect techniques are generally much easier to perform than the direct techniques, which involve relaxing from a completely awakened state and the aim is to relax the body to the point where it goes to sleep but at the same time our mind remains fully conscious. This state is often referred to as Mind Awake/Body Asleep (MABA). Once we are in this state the connection between the astral and the physical body is very weak and we should try projecting.

Direct techniques are a bit complex in their nature and there are many different sensations taking place while trying to perform them. Full-body vibrations, cracking or popping sounds in the forehead, hearing strange voices are not uncommon. Often when performing direct techniques, we will experience what is known as ‘sleep paralysis’. This is the moment when our body has cut the connection almost fully with the mind to prevent movements of the body when we act in our dreams. This is also the time for separation techniques to be performed since the connection between the astral and the physical body is weak.

Lucid dreaming is another type of gaining consciousness out of the body and it simply means becoming aware in our dreams that we are in fact dreaming, without waking up. There are plenty of techniques and tricks to make us suddenly gain awareness in our dreams. Among them is having a Dream Journal, in which we describe all our dreams and different key details. This will help us recognize patterns so that when we spot them during the dream we would realize that we are dreaming. There are many different ways to trigger such sudden lucidity in the dream state but it is a topic on its own.

Indirect Techniques are by far the easiest way to go out of body is by performing an indirect technique as soon as we can after waking up. It is essential that we move as little as possible in the moments after waking up from a dream. Every movement creates a stronger connection between our mind and body. However, even if we have moved a little bit we should still give ourselves the chance to project. Once we find ourselves awakened from a dream, with as little movement as possible, we should try cycling several different techniques one after the other waiting for about 5 seconds for each technique to work. All techniques are similar in the fact that they all exteriorize our body-awareness. By doing this we move our energies in an outward fashion which is essential in projecting our consciousness onto the non-physical realms. Indirect techniques should be cycled one after the other in 5 second intervals. Some times we will not feel any progress and we should change the technique after about 5 seconds of trying. If we do feel like we are about to separate from the body, we should keep performing the technique. This is an intuitive decision and you will know when you are doing it correctly only after a few tries.

Here is a list of indirect techniques:

1.\tMobile Phone – Imagine you have a mobile phone in one of your hands. Preferably, use the one that you feel is more energetically activated. If it is in a fist position, use the open palm. If both palms are closed, use another technique. Once you imagine you hold a mobile phone, try to sense it being in your hand. Practice in a waking state with a real cell phone and try to remember the feeling of its weight, the frames, the buttons, the display and so on. Transfer these same feelings on your hand when you perform this exit technique. Do not move your muscles at all. Just move your energy and try to imagine and, most importantly, feel that you have spirit hands and fingers that touch the cell phone without any physical movement. This is also intuitive and should be practiced before you try it as an exit technique so that you can understand what you are supposed to feel. The idea is that at some point your hand will get so energized that your awareness will switch from that of your physical hand to that of your astral hand and then your whole astral body. You will suddenly feel like your hand is lighter and energized. You may feel it floating upward and there is no way you will not notice the change. Once you do, it’s time to get out of your body fast!

2. Lifting Head:

Upon awakening, look upward towards your third eye chakra (upper middle of the forehead). Concentrate your energy there and when you feel you have built up enough of it after a few moments, try to feel your head lifting suddenly a bit over your real head. Imagine that you are shooting your head through the your third eye chakra and all the energy at the center of your chakra is going to the back of your head and neck and neck and pulling your astral head upward from your physical head. Try to retain that pulling feeling at the back of your head and neck for a few seconds. You may feel some bubbling in your forehead or other strange feelings and it is a good indication that you are about to exit your body. Once this happens, you will know it. It’s like your awareness have switched to a lighter, more energized body and it is time you leave your physical body fast.

3. Swimming

Simply feel your astral hands going from the inside of your chest to the outside. This movement is fairly easy to sense and imagine and is said to be one of the most successful techniques in general. Again, try to maintain the sense of swimming with your astral hands for about 5 seconds without moving your real hands or any other muscles. You can still breat and move your eyes. If you don’t feel like getting close to an exit, switch the technique.

There many more techniques and you can create your own. The idea is to create an outward energetic movement and exteriorize the body awareness. However, there are techniques like the Mobile Phone which don't rely as much on this exteriorization but rather concectrate on energising to a great extent a part of the body which in turn activates the astral body.

What do I do once I feel I am in my astral body?

Just roll to the side or upward and get as fast and as far from your body as you can. You have to be aggressive because your physical body is sucking you back. Many times you will be able to go out of body with only your hand or the upper part of the torso or maybe some other part of your body. Either way, try your best to twist and turn in every possible way that would enable you to get completely detached from your physical body. You may feel the need to crawl or use different objects around you and push yourself away from your body. Once you are a few meters away from it, the most difficult part is over. It’s time for you to look at your hands for a moment. You will see them warping, melting or pulsating and that should indicate you that you are in your astral body. So far, so good. Your next objective is to stabilize and deepen your awareness. Try touching different things around you and zoom in on them. You can also touch the different parts of your body to increase the astral body awareness. Rubbing your hands together is probably your best option. During your astral body travels you will have to perform these little tricks from time to time in order to keep your awareness high and stable. Otherwise, you will be returned to your body or fall asleep and continue dreaming. If you find yourself sucked back in your body does, simply perform an exit technique and you will most probably be able to go out of body easier than your first time. You can do this numerous times and still succeed fairly easily.

Final words

There are some modifications to every technique. For example, if you use the mobile phone technique, you can sense your mobile phone being still in your hand and you only move your astral thumb and fingers, feeling the outlines at the same time without the cell phone itself. You can, however, choose to flip the phone around in your hand in a preferable pace. It is all individual so experiment a bit and use your imagination. But always remember that imagining is secondary to feeling and sensing. Moving your point of awareness and really feeling the different actions is the thing that matters. Visualization is simply an aide to that. It is hard to just feel a mobile phone in your hand without any sort of visualization.

Another interesting thing to note is that sometimes you will find your arms on your stomach or chest and it gets a little trickier because as you breath, they will move and will make it a bit more difficult for you to concentrate.

There are many little details that I am still trying to sort out as to what works better and what not. For example, I believe that a more shallow breathing makes it a bit easier to concentrate on the movement of your awareness throughout the body. However, some techniques like the Lifting Head require a bit more generation of energy so a single big breath in and breath out would probably make it easier to concentrate the required energy in your forehead.

There is also room for arguing in the issue of when it is best to start using the technique. One can argue that you have to take a few rhythmic breaths and energise the needed areas so that it is easier for you to move your energy around. Michael Raduga says that in his studies and experiments he found that most people are more successful when they start performing the technique immediately after awakening. The more time you lose, the worse your chances of success get. It really depends on what technique you use and the individual so you can try experimenting and report back.

Something else worth noting is that you can generate more energy throughout your body and in specific areas simply by ‘squeezing your spine energy. I don’t really know the correct words and how to describe it better but those of you who have meditate for some time probably know what I mean. Just try intuitively to squeeze energy from the base of your spine or any other area without moving your muscles (or maybe you do move just slightly).

Try experimenting and report back on your findings. It took me a bit of thinking on the different ways of performing each technique and I was not really thinking as much during my previous OBEs. I am currently going to follow a certain experimental path and sort out these little details and find which ones work better than others. If you find all these questions and possibilities hard to cope with just don’t think too much and go with the flow. I have had success by simply doing what feels right. However, I find it important that the success rate of my exits would skyrocket once I am able to understand exactly what type of breathing or energy movements and modifications work best. There is, however, the fact that each person is different and we can’t be sure that what works better for one is better for another. I hope this helps and believe me – going out of body is not as difficult as it sounds. And if you have doubts, you don’t even have to go exit completely. All you need is getting a part of your body out of it and you will gain the needed confidence and motivation. Enjoy!

13. I've experienced at least a taste of it a few times now, all recent
The first time I achieved it during sleep paralysis, usually in such a moment I would be kind of freaked out but after so many episodes I decided to take control.

When I became conscious and noticed the familiar setting of sleep paralysis, I immediately concentrated on calming my mind and began to look around. When I focused on the wall in front of me, it seemed as though my head was zooming towards the wall. I actually floated towards the wall head-first, and right before I hit it I completely woke up heh
The second time I just tried sitting up and perceived myself still lying down while my "astral body" was in the sitting position(it was like seeing it from a 3rd person view). After a few seconds it felt like I was sucked back towards the bed into my body and I regained consciousness

Its been interesting, can't wait to explore it more

14. I have been experiencing a bit with astral projection but never left my physical body, never crossed my mind to try it. I mean, I would come to a point where I could move my astral hands and body and it worked nicely. I think that the easiest way of achieving it is through you hands. Definitely start channeling energy through you hands. Imagine them moving slowly and it won't take you long to separate your astral hand from physical. To move my astral body I'd imagine myself slowly moving on a hammock and it wouldn't take long to separate from physical body. Will definitely try and separate completely.

As for lucid dreams. Once I noticed that something was strange around me and realized I was dreaming. First thing that came to me was flying. I stared to fly (I think that is the easiest thing to do if you became aware that you are dreaming) and soon enough my mind was too active and I awoke. I noticed that as soon I realize that I am asleep or soon to be my mind gets too active and I wake up.

Great article Sacerdotal, I'll use your advices definitely

Thanks, Kec. Just want to add something on what I wrote about the Mobile Phone technique. Don't flip flop the mobile phone as I wrote previously. It has to remain static in your hand the way you like it and feel it the most comfortable. Then, you just have to move the energy on the part of your palm and fingers that touch the mobile phone. Nothing more. You don't have to touch the display with your finger tips if they don't naturally touch it. Not that it will ruin everything but keeping it as simple as possible is the best way in my opinion. Too much difficult actions will most probably ruin the attempt.

And keep on moving the energy in your palm and fingers and sensing different areas that touch the mobile phone, don't concentrate on just one spot for a long time. Soon numbness and super-energising will come and you will sense that you are switching to the astral body. Have fun ;).

16. leaving it, actually

It is both. You are leaving the Prison Planet Matrix and are entering the Universal matrix. You are going to the informational code, the source code of the Universe. Which means you are escaping the physical matrix, the result of the source code.

18. So what's everyone's success rate for lucid dreaming? Does it seem to effect the quality of your sleep?

19. I have lucid dreams every night. I have to tell myself i'm dreaming or I won't realize it. It may effect the quality of my sleep because lately I haven't been getting to bed until around 3 am. I don't mind, though. I have some strange dreams.

20. Does weed help in anyway?
