If you're an astronomy geek like I am, you're probably aware of the asteroid 1998 QE2 that's going to be passing by us today. It is 1.7 miles in length and has it's own moon! It will miss Earth by 3.6 million miles. If you have a telescope you'll be able to see it. I'm going to watch it on NASA's website since it's been raining here all week and is suppose to continue tomorrow and I don't have a telescope. Yeah only down side to living in the Pacific northwest is the lack of star gazing we can do haha. Nasa website here I come ha
Yeah unless you have a really good telescope you won't be able to see it with just your eyes. NASA livestream got our back B)
Hey I know it's a lot to ask but can you bump this thread with the live stream when it happens? I'm kind of a forgetful person =(
The closest approach of the asteroid occurs on May 31 at 1:59 p.m. Pacific (4:59 p.m. Eastern / 20:59 UTC). This is the closest approach the asteroid will make to Earth for at least the next two centuries. http://www.jpl.nasa.gov/news/news.php?release=2013-163
Ok so does that mean another cult is gonna commit suicide to go to the asteroid? Anyone remember hale bopp? And I'm willing to bet that some people are praying it will crash into the Earth.
The Asteroid is already moving away from us the live stream is talking about the asteroid that will enter our orbit (will be as close as our satellites are) in 2029. I think if we need to worry about one, it's that one. haha.
