Ash catcher broke off in downstem... and now it's stuck.

    So my friend somehow broke his ashcatcher and the elbow of the joint is stuck inside the downstem, and now we can't get it out for the life of us. Have tried running it under hot water- no dice. Tried to put the d/s inside the tube with keck clip attached and pull the hell out of it- no luck. Anyone have some suggestions? It's the really nice Luke Wilson tree d/s so I'd like for there to be a solution. Plus, I'm tired of him hogging my Alex K showerhead d/s

    Ive had this happen. I Just bought a new downstem.

    maybe a throw out bearing puller would help. What size is the hole?

    I will try the soap.

    As for just buying a new downstem... hard to swallow the ~$75.
