Are vacuum seal bags are the best way to store cannabis

Discussion in 'Marijuana Stash Box' started by lunavalentine708, Sep 2, 2022.

  1. i heard vacuum seal bags are the best way to store cannabis. is that true?

"Vacuum seal bags are extremely useful for storing marijuana, both for short term and long term. Whether you have just harvested some of your cannabis plants, or if you have been storing some for years, the following are some of the uses for vacuum seal bags" (an article form the web)

  6. Only ever used mason jars here. Curious to see how the vacuum bags work out though.

  7. Plastic carries a surface electric charge that glass does not. Trichomes are sucked off the buds and stick to the plastic at roughly 5x the rate it happens with glass.

The 2nd part is under a vacuum your Cure will stall. If you must seal under a vacuum do it after a 60 day jar cure @ 65%. My own testing showed a very noticeable loss in taste and smell with vacuum glass vs air filled Mason jar storage.
    YMMV

  10. I had to look up grove bags again once you talked static electricity...heres what they say

Anti-Static Element - This TerpLoc element creates a neutral charge down the packaging sidewall to prevent the trichomes, that contain a significant number of terpenes, from being stripped off the product.

  12. One of these days I would like to be in a position to have this problem -- for now I'm busy trying to grow enough for me to smoke. I like glass jars though. At times when I have extra weed, I do open the lids and close them back up to get a little fresh air inside. Not sure if that's good or bad.

  13. I use bags without issue, only never suck out the air, only seal them or your weed may ferment which will change the smells and flavors.

  14. Grove bags rock. But keep them stored at a moderate humidity. If it’s too dry it can wick that perfect moisture level out.
All my one gallon jars are in storage now:thumbsup:

  15. Went through all kinds of storage plans in my head like humidors, amber mason jars, yada yada... till I decided to save my cash and simply store it in a dark place inside the mylar bags it's shipped in. Good enough for the vendors to keep their stuff fresh, good enough for me I figure.

  16. I use tinted mason jars and plastic black 5 gallon buckets with the screw on lids.
Had a gal show up at my house one time all drunk and with a pistol .
She was all pissed because no one at the bar wanted to see her tits
    She is in her 50's.
I didn't see the gun at first when I opened the door, as she walked in i seen the gun and took it from her.
I go in the bedroom and toss the pistol on the bed and hear a thud in the living room.
This gal was taking off her shirt, lost her balance and fell down hitting her head on a 5 gallon bucket of weed knocking her self out pretty much topless.
Good thing she woke up, wasn't sure how i would explain this if i had to call 911

I can't mention the best solution in the world because I'll get banned from this forum.
With that said, if you want something for home storage, I recommend looking for these qualities.
    • Vaccum: In my opinion, unless you are storing long-term, you can get by with airtight.
    • Smell proof: We all know why
    • Crushproof: Glass is fragile and so is weed
    • Locking: Always a good idea, but make sure there is a backup entry plan. Believe it or not, some of us forget combination codes. There is nothing worse than locking yourself out of your own stash. :lmafoe:
    • Dependable: Stash can be sticky and messy, depending on your favorite form, flower, edibles, etc. Moving parts and seals must be tough enough to withstand daily use, and be easy to maintain. There's nothing worse than having to replace these things all the time.
    • Quality: Anytime you are dealing with smell-proof, you truly get what you pay for. There are many brands claiming to be smell-proof. beware. All I can say as a twenty-five-year expert in the field, you truly get what you pay for. Our original prototypes are still in use today, and none of our testers want to give them back and it's almost been a year since we sent them out.
    • Versatility and capacity: Look for solutions that have the capacity to accommodate your needs and are easy and practical to use. For example, it is never a good idea to store pens and cartridges horizontally, because it leased to burnt tasting pulls and sticky messy leaks. Look for products with thoughtfully designed functions to help solve problems like this.
    • Opaque: Sunlight is the enemy of herbs. Get something that is not clear like a baggie or glass.
    • Air-tight: Air can encourage mold growth as can humidity. Keep your stash in an airtight environment, you can add humidity packs to control humidity for longer-term storage.
    • Design: Look for smart-design features like built-in rolling trays and organizers. Avoid small difficulty to see and operate locks and zippers which are prone to get stuck from daily use, and sticky residue. Nice touches include design cues that keep your stash in one place, so when you take it off a shelf, everything remains in place after moving it.
    • Usability: It's frustrating to have to unpack everything to get to your papers or pen. It's a pleasure when it's all neat and easy to see and access each item.

  19. Well GRAEME, you got me...I checked out the site. Here's my critical feedback.

    Interesting product.
    Price point is palatable but
    Ugly design / color
Marketing should change pictures of tennis balls in the box to things actually used by cannabis consumers. I highly doubt anyone is going to store nyquil in there....;)

    good luck either way.

  20. Thanks for the feedback, it's so cool meet fellow enthusiasts.

We tested the design and color you see with actual cannabis consumers in multiple states, but on the other hand, everyone is different. If the demand is there to make other colors we will consider it.

I agree with the tennis ball comment. With that said, we have to be extremely cautious with what we show on public channels. Brands that are "associated" with cannabis are constantly banned from social media and are challenged to be able to reach their audience.

Sometimes I wish I could tell everyone how difficult it is for new great products to get the word out. For example, we sell on Amazon, but they will not allow us to advertise, like general products. The bottom line we have images that show the real deal, but we have to tiptoe. It's such a shame, especially when you genuinely have a great product and need help telling people about it.

Attached is an image with contents instead of tennis balls:). I tried to post it in the gallery, but not sure if allowed.
