Are there people with down syndrome in prison? What groups do they fit in with? Do they have a helper? Or maybe the have a special jail? What about guys in wheelchairs, prisons are wheelchair accessible. If there was a wheelchair prison, that would be so fun.
Mentally retarded people end up in our prison systems all the time. Most are probably just put in protective custody blocks. I doubt they get individual helpers.
They go to secure mental institutions usually if they are mentally handicapped. But, there are people who are on the border line of IQ levels between "normal" and "mentally challenged" who end up in regular prisons. You wont see some one with Downs in a regular prison, but you will see people who have such a low IQ they are basically mentally handicapped sometimes. Hell.... texas just killed a guy a month ago or so even though he was technically legally mentally handicapped. As far as people in wheel chairs, people who have other disabilities, they are usually kept in a seperate medical division in jail. Same thing if you're like terminally ill or something like that, they put you in a segregated and "protected" unit so people dont try to take advantage of you. I'm sure it still happens though.
i was locked up with a real paranoid schizo dude.. atleast thats what i thought he was.. he never talked to anyone but him self.. hed do a bunch of weird arm and hand movements and hed just sit by the windows staring out at the trees and shit and talk to them
Texas doesn't count because they will kill anyone. And they will do it fast too.. Texas don't fuck around.
