Are the current driving laws too vague?

Discussion in 'Beginner Cannabis Consumption & Tips' started by camram, Sep 8, 2012.

  1. Don't get me wrong, driving while intoxicated is dangerous and wrong. I don't care if it's weed or alcohol but alcohol has a set limit. Most places around the US, anything above .05 and you are screwed with booze.

Marijuana doesn't have those concrete guidelines. Obviously driving while high and maybe even during the comedown phase is considered "intoxicated" but when does the user know the law won't screw them?

With alcohol, I can drink 1 beer, wait maybe 45 minutes and pretty much get lippy with a cop because I know I'll be under .05 and protected. We don't have that with current cannabis laws.

And no just drive when you feel like you are not high is not a good answer because it's too subjective.

What kind of guidelines do you guys/gals follow?

  2. As long as your car doesn't reek of weed and you don't have any paraphernalia out in the open there's nothing they can do about you being high since there's no field test for marijuana.

  3. One way to look at it but what if you are t-boned at an intersection and they test your blood positive for cannabis? I guess depending on the situation they could try to hit you with a DUI that way.

  4. Exactly.. a cop can't just come to the conclusion that you're high & give you a dui.. If you're stopped & harassed & admit to smoking, he sure will, but unless he smells it.. he truly can't do anything. Same with being TIRED.. which is crazy, but if you get pulled over for swerving or driving crazy & use the "I'm really tired" excuse, they can give you a legit dui. Sorry, random.. but same concept.

  5. they have to specifically request a drug test and you can refuse it.

  6. Body of mine got pulled over for driving too slow during a snow storm. Cop pulled him over and gave him a field sobriety test. Passed but cop said he was clearly high. He got 4 months of probation. Cops around here are straight up butt holes.

  7. Can I ask what state? That's extremely strange.. did he have a lawyer? That just seems like something that wouldn't hold in court, with no evidence.

  8. Thats so stupid, of course you will drive slow in a snow storm, you cant see/longer for car to break and its dangerous. I wouldve fought that no matter how much it cost me, thats fucking bullshit man.
