Are people brainwashed to desire alot of possesions?

  1. Because it sure seems like most people equate happiness and success with how much stuff you can acquire.

Is it just a coincidence that this mindset encourages the rat race to continue without question.

  2. Absolutely. This is what society has basically taught us: Consume, obey, consume, die, and repeat with your offspring. Humans by nature are not materialistic, since we were a hunter gathering civilization at one point for a long period of time, but we are taught to be so by modern society.

  3. Well you can't just suddenly forget about money

Yes it's wrong that money and material possessions bring happiness, but that's the world today.

Family is great, love is great, but you really can't do much in modern society without money or possessions lol

  4. yeah thats basically how it goes, i keep trying to get out but they keep pulling me back in:D

  5. possessions have always been a part of society and a symbol of status.

ecxept now instead of wives and livestock, its ipads and northfaces
