are home tests accurate?

Discussion in 'Beginner Cannabis Consumption & Tips' started by horser55, Mar 5, 2010.

  1. So, I have to take a pre-employment drug test. I smoked every night for almost 6 months, took a break for exactly a month, then smoked (just a few hits to fall asleep) on the 15th and 16th of last month. I took a drug test today (one of the home, first response ones....blue box...) and have to take my test this weekend. The home test came back negative - does that mean the lab one should be negative too? How sensitive are the home tests? Are they accurate?

    Thanks a lot!!

  2. You should be fine man, lots of jobs only do mouth swabs, which are only accurate witin 24 hours haha so your prolly safe

  3. It's a urine test - the people at family check response or whatever the company name says that they are super accurate. BUT they test up to 50 ng/ml - does anyone know what the cutoff lvl for lab tests is?

Dude, you'll pass the lab test. 99% percent of the time labs will just simply give it a dip stick test and if it's negative there will usually be no further examination. Surprisingly, home stick tests are 99% accurate so basically if you can pass one now, you'll be fine at the lab. Also, lab test are also using a 50ng/ml cutoff as well. Only the GC/MS, which is a more accurate exam, will have a lower cutoff level but they cost up to $125 per test and for pre-employment, they're not going to pay for that.

Check out the link on drug testing in my signature :smoking:

  5. I'm gonna have to pass one of these pretty soon. *Sigh*

  6. bummer man

  7. Mike,

I did check out your post and it was VERY helpful! I'm so glad I'm not eating fruitpectin or anything (a friend of mine actually recommended it...UGH! lol) I was curious about the accuracy of home tests - very cool that it was actually worth my $15 :p

Thanks so much guys, I'm relieved!

  8. yea they work, however buy another test and try it with your first piss of the day. if you pass that you will pass a lab test.

  9. if your ever worried about a test, just get some niacin....take like 1000mg it will flush you clean. You'll get very red and hot and uncomfortable for a while tho and SUPER thirsty

  10. I'm glad you found my post helpful :D

But yeah dude, fruit pectin is a myth. Spread the word, I hate when people suggest stupid things like that to people whose jobs or probation is on the line.

  11. Not this.

  12. it works man, thats only in emergency situations tho cause it will never show up on a test due to it being in tons of shit you eat anyway. Im not recommending doing that if you have other options haha

They test your niacin levels and if to high you fail. Dont say they do not bc thats how i failed about 11 months ago. Lab test are different the test the PO gives. Also 50 ng is cut off for UA Gs/mc is 15 ng. If you drink to much water you need to take a creatine supplement. If you dont your levels will be to low and you will fail for trying to flush your system. I have failed 5 test for jobs and I have tried all these methods on GC it all breaks down to the lab its being sent to. I fucking hate lab corp they test everything they can, and flag your ass if you fail so next time your singled out to see if your clean. Also dont smoke until u get your first pay check I use to smoke right after until the lab lost my results i started training and had to go re take the test after a 30 day break so i was fucked bc i had already started smoking I didnt even go take the test. The people who pass a lot of times is PO test which is a 5 dot not a UA. if its a Gc/ms or hair test and your fucked if your a smoker. Oh and most labs test for the products that fool test if they find the chems in your system you automatically fail. sorry for the typos I use a thumbkeyboard and its a bitch to type with

  14. HAHA well your the one who took it too close to the test man, niacin naturally flushes itself out within about 18 - 24 hours Unless you took waaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much and didnt drink like a gallon of water. You have to make sure you detox correctly man

  15. Right, and niacin does nothing so really taking it would be incorrect.

  16. That's where my test is :(

  17. I took it over 24 hours and i drank more then a gallon. I can tell you why it doesnt work on UA and Gc/ms test if you would like. Im not talking about a 5 dot. I have taken about 10 test in my life 3 i paid for my self to see if I could bet them and get the results. I can promise you that I know more about them then the standard person when it comes to UA Gc/ms and hair test. Also thanks for laughing at me bc I lost my job bc of that test it paid well over 100k, Im not talking about working at the local grocery store. I have read well over 20k pages, talk to the techs at labs why i should test with that company and i know all of the major labs. Just bc some of your HS friends passed a 5 dot using niacin doesnt mean anything. It does not work.

Niacin won't help you pass a drug test, might make you sick

Misusing vitamin to foil drug test may be toxic; plus, it doesn't work

Taking excessive doses of a common vitamin in an attempt to defeat drug screening tests may send the user to the hospital - or worse.

Researchers from The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and The University of Pennsylvania reported on two adults and two adolescents who suffered toxic side effects from taking large amounts of niacin, also known as vitamin B3, in mistaken attempts to foil urine drug tests.

Both adult patients suffered skin irritation, while both adolescents had potentially life-threatening reactions, including liver toxicity and hypoglycemia (low blood sugar), as well as nausea, vomiting and dizziness.

One of the teens also had disrupted heart rhythms.

All four patients recovered after treatment in hospital emergency rooms for the adverse effects.

The report appeared online in the Annals of Emergency Medicine.

"Testing urine for drugs is becoming increasingly common for job applicants," said study leader Manoj K. Mittal, M.D., a fellow in emergency medicine at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. "Because niacin is known to affect metabolic processes, there is a completely unfounded claim that it can rapidly clear the body of drugs such as cannabis and cocaine. However, niacin is toxic when taken in large amounts."

Niacin is easily available as an over-the-counter vitamin supplement.

As a vitamin, the daily recommended intake is 15 milligrams, but niacin is used in much larger doses to treat vitamin deficiencies and other conditions.

"People often assume niacin is completely safe," said Dr. Mittal. "As a water-soluble vitamin, it is easily excreted from the body. However, the body has its limits, and some of these patients took 300 times the daily recommended dose of niacin."

Dr. Mittal added that there is a report in the medical literature of a patient who suffered liver failure, requiring a liver transplant, after taking excessive doses of niacin.

Many Internet sites promote the misconception that niacin can be used to pass urine drug screening tests, Dr. Mittal said. "We hope that our study will alert emergency medicine physicians and other health care providers to this hazardous practice."

In addition to his position at Children's Hospital, Dr. Mittal is an instructor at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine.

His co-authors are Kevin C. Osterhoudt, M.D., medical director of the Poison Control Center at Children's Hospital; Todd Florin, M.D.; and Jeanmarie Perrone, M.D.; all of the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine; and Joao H. Delgado, M.D., of Hartford Hospital in Hartford, Conn.

About The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia: The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia was founded in 1855 as the nation's first pediatric hospital.

Through its long-standing commitment to providing exceptional patient care, training new generations of pediatric healthcare professionals and pioneering major research initiatives, Children's Hospital has fostered many discoveries that have benefited children worldwide.

Its pediatric research program is among the largest in the country, ranking third in National Institutes of Health funding.

In addition, its unique family-centered care and public service programs have brought the 430-bed hospital recognition as a leading advocate for children and adolescents.

Byrd Labs tests conclude that niacin doesn't work at all. In other words, something else probably caused a negative, not the niacin.

  18. With lab corp its a pretty serious uptight place. if you test your first piss of a day and pass dont sweat it, dont drink more then 6 cups up or water or they will make u re submit a test for gc/ms and thats a 15 ng cutoff and u dont want that test a 50ng is easier to pass. If you past the home test with your first piss which contains the most toxins your good to go.

  19. directed at hatch: I dont really care what that says man, the chemical structure of niacin prevents fat that has entered your blood from breaking down, so the THC that is stored in it doesnt ever end up in the stream and is expelled with the absorbed fats. Ive seen NUMEROUS people pass tests this way. Its cool if you wanna believe that, i'll believe what my eyes have seen. Doesnt matter

So if I'm under 50ng i'm in the clear? I didn't smoke for 33 days, then had 4 puffs, and a week later took a labcorp drug test. Drank tons of water a few days before the test.

And I have a really good metabolism (very active) and I'm young (19), so do you think It will be alrite?
