    To give applicants a notice or heads up that they are going to give a drug test? Like a week's notice is it required? Jobs at like a restaurant or grocery store.

    Yes, when you apply, they give you a sheet that you sign agreeing to drug tests.

    Restaurants don't drug test and I doubt grocery stores do. But you sign a form when you're hired that would say you consent to a drug test.. Or it might be on your application.

    I'm pretty sure they don't have to give you notice, the one time I've been tested I signed the forms and they told me to immediately to to the testing place and get it done. I asked if it could wait a few days (I was going out of town), but they said I had to do it immediately, I guess so you don't have a chance to detox/get fake piss. But I hadn't smoked in months when that happened so I was fine.. I would have been fucked otherwise.

    If you think there's even a chance you might get tested, just stop smoking and drink a lot of water. It's not worth losing a chance at a job over. Plus once you take the test you can smoke as much as you want.

    Yea, that's true. It sucks because i don't know how long it'll be till i get an interview/job. Oh well hah

    Many employers reserve the right to give you a random drug test. They can look at you first thing in the morning and say "Go to the clinic and piss." Some go to the extreme and have someone drive you there so there isn't a delay.

    If you fail tell them that must be a mistake and tell them you'll pay for the next test if they'll allow you to retry. I mean those tests are wrong 1/300 times? something... anyways that will give u time to get synthetic or just to naturally detox another day or two

    Hmm, so basically they could just call me in for interview and say i got the job, if i can pee in this cup clean?

    They could teas you every day if they wanted to. It costs them money to test employees though so they rarely do

    Haha that would be ridiculous. Ive read somewhere that for the pre-employment drug test a week notice is required but it doesn't seem like that now.

    Well I work at Safeway and maybe the bitch just sidestepped this rule, because the person who interviewed me just handed me a mouth-test kit at the end of the interview and told me to use it right then and there... maybe oral tests are the exception to the rule? Regardless, they are easy as fuck to pass as all you do is stick the testing swab between your teeth rather then the inside of your cheek as they instruct you.

    Also, Safeway is in a union and fortunately the $10 they siphon from your paycheck every now and then as "union dues" is good for something because the union that I'm in forbids random drug screening and only allows pre-employment screening and conditional screening such as you slip and break your wrist at work, if you are looking for any compensation from your employer they're definitely testing your ass trying to find an excuse not to pay out.

    usually it says you will have to take a drug test in the application. However when they spring it on you, can be entirely random.
