Apple's iPhones are made from slave labor, and those slaves kill themselves

  1. Meh, I'll keep buying what I was regardless of where it was made.

  2. I guess you are never buying a car or a home, because it is impossible to find one that is not largely composed of foreign-made parts.

Also, Foxconn makes good shit. No two ways about it. Their components can be found in all kinds of high-end electronics.

Moral issues aside, if the USA fails to produce a superior product for a superior cost, then I'm shopping elsewhere.

Plus, sometimes after a day at work even here in the USA: [IMG]

  3. the only american company i buy from is "american apparel." they pay their workers, at the least, twelve dollars per hour. most of their workers being mexican immigrants. a basic "t-shirt" retails for $18. american made goods = higher price than imported goods.

  4. You might want to start living in a forest and being self-reliant.

  5. $18 for a t-shirt? What makes it so good for $18? Not downing ya, I'm genuinely curious.

  6. made in the usa brah. plus great quality. it's a ripoff, i know. but i still rock it.

  7. Made in the USA means so little to me any more, but I hear ya if it's great quality. I would rather pay a higher price for something that lasts longer.

  8. Edit: Nevermind joke was already posted :(

  9. Yeah but I like my iPhone, it makes
My life easier. And besides America owes
China like 2 trillion dollars we have to buy their crap.

  10. Is 17 suicides out of 1.2million workers really that much?

I'm not condoning the fact these people are working in draconian conditions. But China and Japan already have a higher suicide rate than most countries. I think most of the problems stem from over population. So i'm not sure the fact a very small amount of their work force killing themselves is a solid argument against the company.

  11. Why cant you buy a phone made in the US? Government regulations and taxes make it impossible to set up shop at home, unions (and don't get me wrong I'm a union member but not by choice) negotiate pay that is out of line for services...I have a friend that hauls garbage three days a week and he makes 80 grand with overtime...there is just something very wrong with that...
The big unions are socialist like SEIU...and our president is socialist...wait a minute...CHINA is socialist...how's that workin for em...well they are kickin our ass but the people are dying as a result.
Unions were formed from areas of poverty that had high risk workers that needed protection from unsafe working conditions and unfair pay rates...that's where they should stay IMHO...people have the ability to negotiate pay without the unions and most jobs don't need union involvement...get rid of the unions (with those exceptions) minimize government so business can stay and thrive...and guess what? Prices are lower...jobs are created and the economy flourishes....

  12. So would you go to a dentist? According to that movie "The Whole Nine Yards", dentists commit suicide more than any other profession...

And have you ever tried working 45 hours a week, 50 weeks a year in a cubicle? That's fucking torture. Thank god I'm really computer savvy and have a special browser which allows me to circumvent our ridiculous firewalls and other things which aim to make the 9 hours I spend here every day feel as long as possible.

  13. If yall are done with ya Ipods send em my way, or Ill just buy one next week

  14. There's a lot more blood clinging to electrical devices, look into the metals used in them. Practically the same situation as with diamonds from Africa.

  15. If you don't want to buy Chinese, stay away from our great american retailer, Walmart.

  16. As long as they run well I don''t care.

  17. Did you know that Wal-Mart was the originator of the "Buy American" campaign in the 1980s? Funny, cause they're one of the main reasons for our shift from homemade to China-Made products.

  18. This a tragic, tragic infringement upon human rights.

  19. I already got all that so I'm good for now. Guess I won't be buying from them in the future, as I've said.

  20. I am a fan of the survival shows and I do enjoy building treeforts. Might not be a bad idea.
