i bought an apple tree and 3 berry plants the other day. the apple tree is a granny smith and there are red rasberries blue berries and blackberries. anyway i planted the tree out of the 1 gallon container it came in into a 2ft x 2ft box. the soil i used was a miracle grow organic garden soil that is supposed to be used mixed in with about 40% miracle grow 60% naive soil, which i mixed . also mixed in with those two was another bag of normal miracle grow organic potting mix that didn't need to be mixed in with native soil.
around the roots and on top i put some fox farms ocean forest soil for a good boost.

what i need to know is if anybody knows anything about pruning apple trees and if they can help me out with what i should prune with mine or if it need pruning at all. please any help would be greatly appreciated. 0501012002.jpg

  3. I generally train my apple trees to a open center. I will cut them way back to just above the knee to promote new strong low branches so it will be easy to harvest the fruit.

  4. I recommend snipping that curvy branch, and maybe train it to grow out more instead of completely up. And put that shit in the ground.
