Ive had enough of apples bullshit. The mac vs PC ads were bad enough, then they came out with the "if you dont have an iphone" ads, and now theyve really done it. Upon Amazons launch of their Android App Store, Apple not only is suing them for the name, but also unfair competition! What!? Unfair competition? Fucking really? Fuck i just want to strangle the jackasses that run that company. WTF apple!?
The irony is ofcourse that back in the day, when the Mac was first released, Apple imaged themselves through massive advertising as the company to break the IBM/Microsoft monopoly and their mindless drones, I mean, customers. That Apple was an alternative to greedy corporations. In reality today, if you go Apple, you are essentially locked in to whatever whims Jobs and his henchmen say you can and can not do with your hardware, software and even media. You get enslaved by the Church of Jobs. And as in all cults, you pay a pretty heavy price. In both money and restrictions of freedom.
Whats even more weird is that theyre suing them instead of making mindless hate propaganda ads against them like they do to everything else.
First this happened: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WxOp5mBY9IY&]YouTube - Macworld Boston 1997-The Microsoft Deal[/ame] Then this happened: United States v. Microsoft - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia So... Microsoft opened up to its competitor, Apple, by buying $150,000,000 worth of non-voting shares of Apple, as well as creating Microsoft Office and Internet Explorer for the Macintosh. Then, the gubment said that Microsoft abused its monopoly power on x86 based systems. Not to say that Microsoft is golden... Apple contracted out to Microsoft in the 80s for software on the Mac, the first computer to really explode with a GUI, where Microsoft 'stole' the GUI after receiving copies of it to code for. Both are evil nasty corporations. Use Linux.
To be fair, both companies "stole" the GUI + mouse concept from Xerox, who in an unbelievable display of naivite and corporate inertia did not manage to release a commercial product based on it, but handed it all over on a silver platter. ...and some took more advantage than others. The Mac is one such "early adopter", following the hideously expensive Lisa. But it did show the way, and before the atrocety that was Windows 3.11 (first functio, uhm, proper windows released) both Atari (ST) and Commodore (Amiga) had their GUI based computers for sale. And of the crop, Amiga beat them all hands down in features. A bleeding shame Commodore mismanaged the Amiga brand something royally. Resting on their laurels rather than staying cutting edge in the hardware and OS fronts.
Yea, I specifically said that it wasn't the first GUI, rather the first one to explode into the market. Computer and technology history is very interesting.
Indeed. If you haven't already, you should see the movie "Pirates of Silicon Valley". A docu-dramatisation of the Jobs/Gates road to riches. Great little flick edit: and despite my Apple contempt, I do admire Wozniak. A true visionary and imaginative engineer
Cry more? While apple sues amazon for "unfair competition?" Lol ok, whatever makes you happy. Anyway, both MS and crapple have had their fair share of crap in the past, but apple (especially jobs) has always been, and still is, full of shit. Really, the only thing good about mac OS is the UI, and KDE4.6 has it beat by a long shot. I mean, have you seen KDE recently? Its fucking beautiful! But as a hardcore gamer, my primary OS is Winders 7. Plus its really easy and productive, especially when compared to mac OS. Another thing, Id just like to point out that android hands down beats ios by a long shot. If you disagree with that, you ARE a fanboy.
Just thought you'd like to know that Microsoft is suing Barnes & Noble for their e-book reader for the Android platform. They identified a half dozen vague patents that encompass a large number of apps. Microsoft is charging Android app manufacturers a licensing fee to use these random features (such as displaying the download status on top of the content that is downloading). Barnes & Noble refuses to pay the licensing fee and Microsoft is suing.
Any business wants to profit from the competition. If you get paid a fee every time your competition makes a sale, how much better could life get? Also, when you are a programmer who thinks up a really cool feature, it stings to see someone copy it and sell it as their own.
I hope Microsoft will lose these lawsuits... It sounds as though Microsoft is doing the same shit Apple is doing. Apple is suing Amazon for the name "App Store" while Microsoft is suing Barnes & Noble for patents which seem ridiculous. Microsoft Sues Barnes & Noble Over eReader Patents I find it to be bullshit that there are companies like Microsoft which can sue someone for something they developed, while people can devote hours and hours a week to open source projects and never see a penny. I mean, it isn't bullshit, but god damn I don't think you should be able to patent the way a web page loads.
Back in the 80's there were a half dozen or so operating systems and most weren't compatible with each other. To make this whole personal computer thing work, we all needed to be on the same page so our shit would be compatible. Love them or hate them, Microsoft did just that. Apple could have been that company but they got greedy and wouldn't open up their code for 3th parties to generate product around it.
