Does anyone have experience with this company's grow lights? They offer a variety of digital ballast, hps/mh switchable systems for really cheap. I know that you probably get what you pay for but I was wondering if this is a good buy in terms of the lower end of grow lights. I was originally looking into a 1000 watt iPower light for about $250 but then I found this Apollo horticulture setup: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B005ECZVXK?m=A2RE9P12YH19TJ for less money and even more importantly, it had a 3 year warranty on it too. I would still love to hear from anyone else's thoughts on this set up before I buy it. Thanks for any help.
I guess nobody's got any input on this apollo horticulture setup so I will report back here after ordering mine.
i have the apollo 600 no probs. so for the only thing was the mh blub was broken but they sent me a new one i too got it from amazon timer,hood,yoyos,2blubs and ballast w/built in fan under 200 bucks...why not
Thanks man. I must have overlooked the built-in fan; I'll have to make sure the one I'm eyeing has got that as well. I guess its lame that the MH bulb came broken but it's very cool to know that they replaced it.
I got a 600 watt switchable cool tube with bulbs like 2 months ago and am so far loving it in my 2x4x5 tent.... Seems like a quality product, cheap on amazon too
I'm going with the ipower instead. My local grow shop lets you trade systems in and they try to sell it for you. Seen like 3 systems come in there that guys just said they wanted to dump. Let me know if it works good for you though.
I got the iPower, but the guys are maybe 30 miles from me, so if anything happens I'll just drive over there
I like my apollo set up(2-600w). Not sure if I'm satisfied with the bulbs however which is how i found this thread. Great for small grows.
Love my little 400w non cooled Apollo setup so far! No issues and the ballast gives off almost no heat. Both bulbs I got worked prefect, I know some reviews people seem to be hit or miss with getting good bulbs. I'd definitely consider them when I upgrade to a bigger light.
apollo grow light and grow tent as a one set to buy os good,it save lots of time to do other things...
I have a 600w switchable/dimmable with cool tube. I LOVE THIS SETUP. Had over a year and runs usually 20/4 or 18/6 year round. No problems at all. Excellent results. Need better hps bulb. The MH bulb is fine but I went with a Digilux enhanced spectrum HPS. Sent from my iPhone using Grasscity Forum
I bought a Apollo 400 watt digital ballest as well as a 3x3x6 foot grow tent all from Apollo on amazon and I love it works great for the price no problems whatsoever I would highly recommend the tent and the ballest
Check the lumens ratings, Apollo and ipower are never high rated for lumens, if I'm spending electricity money I go for higher lumens. On 600s usually lower by 5-10k for MH, don't remember for HPS. I use sunmaster and hortilux even on my magnetic ballast and I change them every 3 grows. No failure yet. Cheaper brands sometimes start buzzing and make noises after a grow or 2. Also get a light meter, sometimes it's hard to tell if they're putting out full lumens or not.
I have 3 400 watt Apollo kits working pretty well so far. Ebay was cheaper than Amazon when I last checked though.
I'm having the worst issue. Where's the power button. I have an apollo 1000 hps ballast and it has 4 settings. 50% 75% 100% superlumans no off switch. Do I just unplug it ? Otherwise it's awesome I'm just always worried I'll blow it when I unplug it.
