  1. Anyone see this movie yet? I just watched it today and was blown away. It has a great storyline, and it kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time. Two thumbs up from me, if anyone else has seen it, feel free to add your comments:D
    (Plot outline below)

Set in the Mayan civilization, when a man's idyllic presence is brutally disrupted by a violent invading force,
he is taken on a perilous journey to a world ruled by fear and oppression where a harrowing end awaits him.
Through a twist of fate and spurred by the power of his love for his woman and his family he will make a desperate break to return home and to ultimately save his way of life.

  2. Saw it the day it came out with my pops. It's a great movie albeit a bit too bloody. Not that I'm against gore but eh. After seeing it i told my dad "Good thing the spanish came and beat Christianity into us". Haha that really pissed him off along with a few people who heard me say that behind us

  3. My roommate and I smoked a joint on the way to the theater the night it came out and then watched it. We tripped our balls off. Good movie though.

  4. screw mel gibson. But I want to see it anyway

  5. LOL@dat. I wanted to rep it.

Haven't seen the movie. I'll watch it when the opportunity presents itself.

I don't care about Mel's little issues, except to the extent that they make for entertaining drama. :D But I sure as hell would never spurn a work of art just because one of the creators happens to be a nutter. That'd be silly.

  6. Mel Gibson has a real thing with snuff films.

Aside from the glaring historical inaccuracies, it was really great.

  7. i saw it and really really enjoyed it... i dragged a friend to see it again with me who was a big skeptical to go, and we ended up leaving early because he absolutley hated it... i dunno, i was baked as shit both times, and it was a great movie to me.

  8. I've never seen it, I'm gonna check it out though.

  9. Yeah man. Roman Polanski wouldn't even come to the academy awards because he's wanted in this country. I don't want to throw out things that aren't true, but it seems like it was rape or something terrible like that. anyway, are you gonna not watch the Pianist because the dude that made it is (iirc) a rapist? the Pianist was fantastic. i'm into the art, regardless of the artist.

  10. YES! The pianist was definitly an excellent movie. I loved it

  11. Eh, idk. I think it really depends on how strongly you believe in something. I havnt seen the movie, but i guess i'll watch it when i get the chance. Mel gibson's an idiot and an alcoholic, and yea hes antisemetic but he hasnt done anything that'd really make me want to take a firm stand against all his work (even though i thought what he did was disgusting and i lost all respect i had for him as an artist and human being)

Then again, I think this is a beautiful painting, but i'd never hang it up in my house.

Anyway, it looks like a good movie, and i'll see it eventually, especially after reading this thread, for some reason i had it in my head that the movie was suposed to suck.

  12. Well yeah, not to mention Van Gough wasn't exactly the most balanced, sane individual.

  13. The birth at the end was hilarious.

  14. Thats not Van Gough (look at the artists signature in the bottom left)

  15. I know, I was just contributing.. or trying to.

I needed to flex the knowledge of that Van Gough documentary I say on the history channel last week
