Anyone Wish They'd Never Started?

Discussion in 'Seasoned Marijuana Users' started by sektr, Sep 22, 2012.

1. Now before everyone starts freaking out at me, take the time to read this. I still love marijuana, but there are aspects of it that when I consider them, they make me wish I had never tried it in the first place.

I've been a daily toker for about a year now, was for a year a few years back as well but barely smoked in the time between those years. Lately, I just haven't been satisfied smoking anymore. I am completely functional despite my smoking, but weed just takes such a huge toll on my bank account (yes, I do have a bong, and a vape, so conserving isn't my issue) as a student, and I spend a lot of my time getting high where I could be out with friends meeting new people in a more social situation rather than just seshing with my buddies.

Not to say I don't go out and party, I do, I love college, but me and a few of my long term friends who smoke were discussing this the other night and we all kind of feel the same way, like if we could go back and never try weed, we probably would. Not because it messes with our lives functionally, but because being a stoner becomes a way of life and in your younger years it's both expensive, and not the greatest choice IOO (in our opinions :p)

Anyone else ever felt this way?

2. I kind of know what you mean. I mean I love were but there is still that one question. How much different would my life be if I never started?

3. You don't have to smoke everyday, try moderation. Expensive? Do not blow all your money towards bud, are you enthusiast or have a hobby into collecting things?

4. Take a long tolerance break

5. I spend $60 a month on weed (an eighth), being a "Stoner" Isn't a way of life. It's your choice if you smoke so much and abuse it that you spend that much money on it.

Maybe you should take a T break, then come back and just smoke less? a 1 hitter a day is enough for me.

6. Sometimes. But then I smoke a bowl and I'm happy I do.

7. I feel you on the bank account, but being less social is on you man. It's not the herbs fault.

8. money isnt everything in life buddy, although sadly you need it to survive in our society nowadays :(

People spend like $50 going to the movie theater buying pop corn, candy and other crap on weekends that make them happy. Just do whatever the fuck makes you happy, lifes to short to not enjoy it

As for the social part, its not the herbs fault like Purpleface said, I have met so many people threw weed that I would have never met otherwise.

9. If you're not in a dorm, then grow.. it's safer than buying (both concerning run-ins with the law, and rip-offs), and you can produce higher quality buds than you'll be able to find consistently on the streets, at a price of around only $5.00 - $15.00 an ounce...

I literally bought two bags, then said "screw this" and started growing when I was a young kid!

No way was I going to keep paying that much, for something this easy to grow so stealthily, and in private, while at the same time limiting my exposure to dealers and limiting the number of people who could find out or "know" that I smoke. :)

If it's just a matter of getting bored, a T-break can help. :D

But just like video games and TV, if you find yourself unable to balance your time or enjoy a recreation responsibly, and if moderation becomes impossible, then you really should consider giving it up until after such a time that you can get a handle on your life, and your goals. :)

10. I was thinking this yesterday, but I'm not sure my life would necissarily be better if I had never smoked. I've met so many cool people through weed, and contrary to your experience it's made me more social. If I wasn't buying weed I'd probably have more video games or something but my life couldn't be THAT much grander....

Actually I think I might have lost my mind if not for weed, life's been a 21 year bitch for me.

11. I was talking to some of my friends last night..all of us either started smoking at 14 or 13. We all kind of agree that we started early but it didn't seem to have any negative effects in highschool

12. If I felt that way I would just stop

13. Ok, clearly I phrased the social aspects poorly. In the past year since I've started smoking consistently I've met a TON of cool people thanks to weed who I still smoke up with regularly. Nor did I mean that it makes me anti-social, I love smoking at parties and it honestly helps me socialize more intelligently combined with alcohol.

What I meant was that whereas on a Friday or Saturday I used to want to go to a party no matter how good it was, it was just where all my friends would congregate and chill, and thanks to that you could meet some new people. However nowadays, unless I know there's something good happening I'll just call up a couple friends, match up and chill for the night. I just don't care enough to go out and meet a bunch of people, but being in university I should probably be focusing more on this IMO.

Not the weeds fault I guess, just kind of how I've chosen to live my life since I started smoking. Not entirely a negative thing either as it keeps me away from alcohol.

But really what I'm saying is that the toll on my bank combined with me wondering how my life would be had I not started smoking makes me wish I'd never started sometimes.

14.
Then stop?
^ this its not that hard...

15. Already have everything I want practically, happy to fork some money over for bud.

16. can't say i wish i had never started, why would i? at one point its exactly what i wanted so why would i look back at it negatively? I'm that guy you see at the party chillin in the back blastin some mellow tunes passin a bowl all night. i barely ever drink thanks to weed, i like to be relaxed and at ease rather then aggressive and obnoxious (thats how i am when i drink) so its a good balance for me.

and why do people think just because they don't go to parties as often anymore their less social? your just going through a chill phase. its okay to relax and keep it simple and sweet man, there's nothing wrong with it.

17. Lol weed dosent effect me much. Here's how it works for me. Instead of MAKING time to go get stoned and blowing off the rest of my life, I add it in when it wouldn't make a difference anyway.

Say im gonna go home after work and watch a movie anyway, would a bowl of weed really change the fact that I got off work and went home to watch a movie? No

On the other hand if I HAVE to go get stoned after work, yeah its a problem.

Don't let your life revolve around weed, let weed revolve around your life. When you think about it enough, it makes a lot of fuckim sense man.

18. I'm a freshman in college, I just smoke at night to fall alseep.

On the weekends or days where I'm really bored and there is nothing to do is when I smoke to get high haha.

19. You are acting like you have to be a complete stoner or nothing at all. Dude just blaze up once or twice a week. You dont have to be stoned out of your mind all day everyday.
