I live in a small studio apt. I dig the place, but I'm not happy with my current furniture/set up. I've tried a bunch of different placements, but I can't think of anything. So, I'd really appreciate if some fellow blades could give me a few ideas to help make my place a chill, comfortable place to live in. Basically, these are some of my thoughts: I plan on building a computer soon, so I'm thinking about just completely dumping the typical TV + couch set up. I don't like my couch anyway--it's too comfortable, to the point where it has absolutely no support and forces you to sit with horrible posture. My back is killing me because of this couch! I don't like getting rid of the media storage thingy, because I actually like it a lot. But I never just sit and watch TV/movies. I'll have my console + netflix on the PC I build, so having a separate TV + couch seems kinda pointless. But what else would I put there? I'm thinking maybe selling both the couch + media center and getting some sort of bookshelf to store my games/CDs/books (currently those things are just stacked in piles throughout my apartment). Then I'm thinking maybe a small dining table (currently I just eat at my desk/on the couch). But I don't know... Two other things to note: the dresser only looks right against a wall. it was handmade by my grandfather so it's not going anywhere, but it sits up pretty high and looks awkward if i have it anywhere other than up against a wall. And the hallway is already full--i keep my bike + drum gear packed up there. Really, the only things I can change are whats below the "kitchen" area.
i like your place, what city is this your setup is actually nice the only thing i can think of is getting rid of the tv and getting a flatscreen to mount on the wall, giving you more space
I actually like it man, seems like a nice chill place. Doesn't seem really big enough to do that much with though, apart from changing what you have in terms of furniture etc.
i like having a small place. it's way more efficient and convenient (especially since I cook/prepare 99% of my meals). i have everything i want and nothing i don't want! well, sort of... that is why i made this thread, after all. no, just the wall you can see and the one with the windows are brick. and i have a few paintings and such, but i need frames for them before i can hang them up. an area rug is also a must, probably two. there are a lot of things I want to add as "decoration" (plants, lighting, artwork, etc) but I've been waiting to do much until I'm happy with the "big" stuff--the furniture.
I like the space you have. An area rug in the center would help draw attention to the space, rather than have the eyes go to the walls with everything pushed up against it. Also, a large piece of modern artwork would look great on that white wall. Use one large painting rather than a lot of small pictures that would make the space seem cluttered. Think BIG. Amazon sells lots of cheap modern art that actually looks good.
^ Yea, I want a BIG piece. I have two small ones already, but they look even smaller on these huge walls. I was looking at etsy, and found some amazing work. But although the prices are justified, I just am not interested in spending hundreds or even thousands of dollars right now for artwork. I'll check amazon, thanks! I actually rearranged everything and am much happier with this set up. Maybe I'll get some pics later...
