Anyone use rockwool?

if your gonna be growing hydro then definetly go with the rock wool cubes if not i would go with a good soil and some perlite

 

i only use rockwool for starting seeds,and have great success.what i do is soak the in some super thrive then gently ring the out so they aren't soaked the i pop the seed about a 1/2 inch in with the point sticking up then take a pencil and gently pull the wool over them.after that i put them in a tupper ware container with cling wrap over them then put them in a warm dark place ..make sure you take the plastic off for a couple minutes twice a day and in 3 to 5 days you shuld see the sprouts..after that i put them in my hydro set up under floro's.but i don't kick on the pumps yet.i just mist them with water until they have about 4 internodes.then i kick on the pumps and switch to a 400 watt mh light with a 1/4 strength nutrients.after about a week i go to 1/2 strength then in another week i go full strength..then just watch them suckers grow like crazy..but keep an eye on them you don't want to burn them up.with the nutrients..iv'e figured out that you just need to push them to the limit with nutrients then back off a little when needed..i also flush them with clean distilled water once every 2 weeks when i change the solution..then when they reach 12 inches i force flower them by cutting the lights back to 12/12 and switching to a HPS conversion bulb..change the nutrients to a bloom formula and watch them suckers stretch and bud..when you get 80% red hairs cut them...oh by the way get rid of the damn males and hermies if you have any..or your just gonna end up with a bunch of seedy lame ass weed...i'd recomend reading these posts as much as possible and getting all the info you can and pay close attention to the posts by the moderaters they seem to have the most knowledge..and if your confident enough and have studied enough...try hydro it's better than soil well at least quicker with better yieldsand a hell of a lot more fun,no more messing with dirt and if you screw up with the nutrients all you have to do is flush and start over as in soil it's a bitch to flush and the plants respond slowly.and go for HIGH INTENSITY DISCHARGE LIGHTS...MH for vegging then switch to HPS conversion bulb for flowering that way you don't have to get a HPS ballast...iv'e found that 400 watts works best for me..you want at least 50 watts of light per square foot of growing space..for really good results..and for the growing area use mylar or the dull side of foil or flat white paint..mylar being the best..i'm not trying to be a know it all but this is how i do it and have had nothing but perfect grows from start to finish.just trying to help out..it's better than wasteing money on cheap lights and then going out and buying the good ones..i got my whole set up going for under $300..after the initial investment all you will ever need to buy is seeds and nutrients..good luck and happy growing..now it's time for me to light up ..

 

Iv'e used a couple brands of nutrients and the one i like the best is ionic brand...they have a veg formula and a bloom formula..they also have a formula for hard water which is what i use...pretty good stuff...no mixing either...just do a search on ionic and you should be able to find it...good luck and happy growing...REVRAND
