Anyone made a watering wand or similar?

Discussion in 'Grow Room Design/Setup' started by GreenFan, Sep 10, 2018.

  1. Has anyone created a watering device and how did you create it?

On my next grow I'm thinking of developing some kind of watering device to water my plants and draining off into a waste tray, instead of hurling 7 gallon pots in and out every 3-4-5 days..

I'd love some ideas from you guys, thanks.

  2. 55 gallon res, submersible pump, in-line filter, 2” PVC drip manifold with 1/4” NPT valves and 1/2” lines running to plants. Up to 20 outlets for SOG or just one and flow is controlled with valves

This’s all drains on a corrugated steel roofing table, slated with a 1“ pitch and draining into gutter with hose connected to shop vac. Feeds 2-3 times a day for one minute on timer, then shop vac kicks on for a minute 10 minutes later to drain. Empty shop vac every other day.

  3. Seems far too complicated. I'm hoping to create something out of a submersible pump but only for a 20 gal res and have a kind of sprinkle / shower head on it but I don't know what kind of submersible pump to use and how to control the pressure so it doesn't splatter soil all over my room

  4. Ok. That’s easy then. Just get a wand and hang a res from the ceiling and use gravity. Or use the pump and the valve on wand to control flow. I have a rain barrel outside that I use to water my garden. It’s built up about 3’ above grade to allow for gravity to force water out. It’s a little slow but works

  5. Your in soil, ok. I do coco drain to waste 3 feeds a day so the table and automation is kind of necessary for me. Overkill for you. Have you looked into blumats. It’s agravity auto feed system but easy to setup

  6. This was my plan, the pots can't be moved in my next set up so I'm wanting to use a wand. I'll have the res on top of my grow room anyway as that's my only storage. I don't mind filling 20L up, wait 24hrs for chlorine to evaporate and add nutes for feeding, feeding with a wand and drainage isn't a problem.
I don't mind this not being automatic feeding, it's just labour free and less of a strain on the back. It would cut an hours work down to 2 minutes!

  7. Perfect bud!! That’s how I came up with my setup. Problem solving. It’s amazing what stoners come up with when unlocking their endocannibinoid system

  8. I know what you mean. I have AS and after my first grow, I had to come up with my own system. For me after my first grow (was DWC) I graduated to a easier way and keeping almost all the benefits. I went with a Hempy Bucket system thats bottom fed with tubing straight to each bucket and airstones to take it up a notch. My version is coco/perlite with Hydroton on the bottom res. Feeding takes 3 min with 6 plants.

  9. Unfortunately chlorine doesnt completely evaporate from the water. I've done a lot of research on this.
I ended up getting declhorinater from microbe life.

  10. On a small scale I have been trying to design a way for me to deliver waterings remotely to my soil grow.

I was thinking a watering ring and run hose from that to a reservoir that would gravity feed.

I just have to decide if i want a remote valve and gravity feed or a pump and just a remote switch.

  11. It's really, really not complicated. Don't be intimidated by the spaghetti tubing. it's about as complicated as an aquarium, and you can get most of the stuff at the pet store too.

  12. is that a shower caddy or shower shelf? awesome idea!

  13. Yes it is. On my last grow we was getting rid of one in the bathroom and at the last moment before I threw it away I thought let me try and see if this works because there was a whole going through each level. Worked out perfect plus each level has two holes to tie up my tubing.
