Hey I have a bunch of cfl's daylight and soft white light that have been working awesome but I also have 2x 2' fluorescent lights I bought at, lowe's and they say there for aquariums and plants. I have heard some lights harm the plants but I want to get a good spectrum if these will help so does anyone know if they are good or bad for the plants?
Are they GE? If so I used the same ones. No they won't hurt anything, but they aren't that powerful. I wouldn't use them to replace anything (other than an incandescent bulb) but you can sure add them to your setup. The more the merrier!
Yep ge and I wasn't going to replace just add them on. Also can I have the plant touching them or will they burn the plant? I have had my cfl's too close a few times and had the tips of a couple leaves burnt to crisp.
cfls are alot warmer then tubes chances are you can let your plants grow into the tubes not the cfls though.
Yeah tubes stay pretty cool, but don't let em touch for too long, I have burnt/bleached a leaf or two on a tube before.
