I just got an interview and it'll be my first job and i'm stoked. I'm 18 and a senior in high school. I told my dad and he kinda buzz killed it saying that our insurance might not cover my car being used like a business? Idk. Anyone have any experience with this and know how the insurance worked and if it was an issue or anything? thanks
I don't think the insurance company can dictate how you use your car, only that you do it safely. I almost got hired at pizza hut, but I never got a call after the interview.
It's not insurance fraud because they insurance company just wouldn't pay out if there was an accident. You would be liable for 100% of any claim filed... which a bodily injury claim can get up towards $100,000 real quick. Just tell your insurance agent that you will be delivering pizzas. Chances are they will increase your premium by 10% but at least you will have coverage in an accident.
I would be worried more about the gas and wear and tear on my car. That's alot of driving and from what I understand they don't pay you much more and you have to rely on tips.
I'm a girl but i've always wanted to be a pizza delivery girl lol. I think that would be the best job to just drive around with pizzas. I would feel weird though since there's barely any girl pizza deliverers..
There is an insurance premium for your car to be used. Most big chain stores require it of their drivers. Liability goes both ways. I don't recall how much more it was, but it wasn't outrages. It is a big wear on your car though, hopefully you have a good one
Nope. If it's for Dominos, do me a favor and find out if the timer they show is actually correct. I want to know if my order is being prepared, cooked, checked, and delivered times are accurate. Do they have to hit a button when they are starting each step?
It'd only be insurance fraud if you made a claim based on damages that occurred during operation of the vehicle as a business vehicle without being properly insured to do so and the company paid out. That said, I certainly wouldn't recommend doing as dom10 did regardless.
Yes, I delivered the past year at Pizza Hut. It's truly an amazing job if you love to smoke/cruise to music, and go to school so you need a part time job that is flexible with hours. I made around $12-14/hr, only had to talk to customers about 4-5 times per hour. I was in the same situation you were in with your dad, but I just told him I was working in the kitchen and delivered anyways. IF (and this is a big if) I had gotten into an accident, I would have had to cover the whole cost my self. Which I do not think I could have, and it's the reason I'm not doing it any more....too much stress with so many bad drivers. One of the best perks about being a delivery driver(besides almost free food), is that almost everyone smokes mj. So if you want to work with other cool people, that's a sweet spot to start. Also, I would recommend using a GPS if you smoke and deliver. I cannot tell you how many times I went the complete opposite direction(wasting gas money and tip money) because I thought I was just zoned and cruisin. The wear on your car is substantial, I drove about 15-20 miles per hour (distance, not the speed) so depending on how much you work, you will need several oil/brake changes. @CKTony yes, there is a button where the people at make-end hit to show they have put the pizza in the oven, and there is a button the cutters use to show when the pizza comes out and they need the order information.
Lol. No. I was getting trained to work there before in the kitchen, and there are no pauses to hit any buttons. Didn't get the job, though. The fucking store manager doesn't know how to decently handle hiring someone.
ive worked at pizza hut, papa johns, dominos, and we had girl devivery drivers. But i loved going to work when i drove. I would smoke before i went in and if i had the munchies? There was always something to eat hahahaha
i used to deliver for pizza hut, i would just drive around blazing and smoking. have me a personal pizza for when i get the munchies. the job paid shit but it was fun, i got to drive around town and listen to jams while i smoke out, i was stoned on 4/20 that i didnt even have to work that day but finished my shift lol. it ended up killing my car though, so if u are a mechanic and can afford to put the miles on ur car then its a pretty legit job on the side if u just need extra cash.
I think the Domino's tracker thing is relatively accurate, you have to clock out every pizza so when they start making it and the time it leaves is pretty accurate. I worked in a mid-upper middle class mostly white town delivering so I made pretty good money, no way in hell I would ever do it in a city or anything. Domino's helped a bit on gas, my insurance coverage never got changed and I never had to tell them anything about my job or whatever. Does put some good miles on your car, esp if there's shitty streets. But yeah, just drove around blazed and listened to music. Every so often deliver to some chicks in bikinis or get a big tip and such
I was managing this little pizza place and bored as fuck so I asked the driver if I could take a delivery...smoked a couple one-hitters on the way and A. had zero change so I just took 10 bucks for a 16 dollar pizza. B. locked my keys in my still running car and had to ask these lesbians (who I just delivered to) if I could use their phone. C. dropped $35 on a lock smith. No more deliveries for me.
thanks for the "do dominos timers really work" question.. made my night only on grasscity ot: pizza driving is very 420 friendly
