I bought a domain and I don't really have anything on it... and I need to pick up some money (along side my writing job) but I'm clueless on what the website should be about. I can't spend any money on it and it can't be about anything *illegal or any porn... (yeah I know that basically knocks out all options )... So, if anyone has a suggestion, that would be great! Just let the THC faries fly and get your creativeness goin'!
Think up something interesting that'll make people want to register to become a member. Make it something legal so you can get them to enter their name, address, phone, etc ..the more contact stuff the better. Doesn't matter what the site's about really, just make it interesting to a whole lot of people, eg car racing, football, whatever legal thing you're into... Save all that contact info in a database. Other companies in that industry will pay good money for that contact info. They know those people are into what they're selling, so they'll market to them. When I say good money, it's freakin' good money. The more info you can get your users to enter the more money you'll make for each contact. Are you building it yourself? ..what're you writing it in? ..what about your server, database etc, are they going to be open source?
I don't really like selling people's information.. that just.. feels... dirty. Yes, I'm building it myself. I'm writing it in standard PHP/HTML/CSS, etc. It's hosted by hostmonster.com and I have 100 MySQL databases. And what do you mean will it be open source? What is there to be open sourced?
I came across the idea of having a website called "Web-Classifieds".. where is would sections for different types of websites, and users could submit their website and it would be added to the category.. basically like the classifieds section of the newspaper.. edit: that's actually an idea.. godamn..
how about lik a swap meet on the internet. blades could like trade and sell hydro parts, what ever. hell you can even do a forum and make your own city.
Well, the website can't have anything to do with illegal activities or porn, my host won't allow it. And it has to be unique, too. (But not too complex)
I've put these catagories into consideration: 1) Free Downloads Forum (there are lots, though..) 2) Website Promotion (to help other websites get more traffic) 3) Give up.
As a final edit, I'm just going to leave it as a lame guestbook (www.arnack.com). It actually gets a good bit of hits a day, so if you want your website added, just pm or email me and I'll be glad to put it up there. if anyone has some other suggestions go ahead and tell me. I can always add other pages to the site.
I would just write about what interests you. Or install Wordpress and make it a blog. Write about experiences or funny things that have happened to you. Sign up for Google adsense or become an affiliate for another program. That way you make money when others click the affiliate code. It takes some time but you can do it. Then keep adding content and work on getting a following. You write content for others. Pick a subject and write your own content.
Yeah, I looked into wordpress a bit.. and I plan to add ads. I think I'm going to add a section for free downloads, cool videos, etc... hopefully some attention will be drawn to it (and a couple clicks on the ad ) if anyone who has any experience with HTML, I have a simple question: for www.arnack.com, I'm trying to make the background in the table white, but the background of the page (not the table) a light blue. When I try body background tag, everything becomes light blue, including the table. Ideas?
As for now, I'm going to leave it as it is. I will have a cool video section, free download section (games, appz, etc) and then a free movies section (able to stream directly). Any other ideas, please add them on. Arnack
