Anyone ever smoke this strain?

Discussion in 'Marijuana Consumption Q&A' started by LankySwag, Mar 19, 2012.

  1. Durban Posion?

Durban Poison ® | Dutch Passion

I'm thinking about growing it outdoors, it says the THC level is around 8, which is pretty low, so I'm wondering is it Piff or mids?

  2. I smoked DP before. Or, at least that's what the guy said it was

To be honest, it didn't look that great. Decent high, though.

  3. Yup.
I got a pretty good high from it, its actually one of my favorite strains.
Edit: What I had was probably a hybrid strain.

  4. Nope, had a chance once but my guy never came through. I've heard good things tho

  5. 8 percent? I wouldn't get it bro. Brings me back to the old quality vs quantity would you rather smoke a few hits of potent herb and be blown or smoke a couple joints of shcwag and feel high.

  6. It's a really high CBD/CBN, low THC strain. THC isn't the only valuable compound in marijuana. It has a lot of value as a medical strain but isn't your average tokers favorite. I like my buds to rest between 15-25%. THC and at least 1-2% CBD and CBN.

I totally agree with how you like your buds, I prefer them the same way. I wasn't aware though that DP was a high cbn/cbd

  8. You will see different things reported about Durban Poison. I have two 'versions' of DP in my stash at the moment and I doubt that either one of them is real DP. They are both good, but they don't resemble the descriptions I have read from people who have smoked the real thing.

As I understand it, DP is a landrace Sativa strain found in South Africa. Real Durban Poison is 100% Sativa. I have seen various reports of its potency, too. Authentic DP is supposed to be one of the most psychedelic, euphoric Sativas known.

Another very important distinguishing factor is that real DP is supposed to smell like black licorice/anise. That's what people have said, anyway. It is described as having quite dark green leaves. The plants are not big in size as far as Sativas go and DP has a relatively short flowering period.

I have asked several places to try and get it, but the word is that it's hard to come by.

  9. Stop talking if you don't know what you're talking about.Durban Poison is a high Sativa dominant strain. Its the exact opposite of what you said. Also, you do know most top shelf at dispensaries are like 15-19% right?

  10. Although its highly sativa dom. Its not 100% sativa, no strain is 100% anything, its probably close to 85-90% sativa.

  11. Why would you say "no strain is 100% anything"? Of course there are 100% Sativas and 100% Indicas.

  12. I say that because all strains have characteristics of both Indica and Sativa. Also phenotypes if you take 20 seeds from a Sativa you will have plants that look more Indica and vice versa. Also the Cannabinoid content of each, High THC is common Sativa and high CBD is common for Indica, but no strain grows without THC or CBD.

  13. Shit 8% seems so low though, I want it to be a great smoke if I'm gonna spend time growing it!

  14. those are just ballpark figures, it all comes down to how well you grow it.

  15. Exactly, just because some website says 8% doesn't mean you can't grow some very potent buds.

  16. Are you using the word "strain" interchangeably with "hybrid"? If so, then I agree.

If, however, you are saying that there are no 100% Sativas or 100% Indicas, then you are wrong.

  17. Ive heard a lot about this strain, not sure if ive ever smoked it myself but would love to get the chance to pick up some legit durban.

Maybe YOU should read on up sativas before you go spouting off to me. Not all sativas are high THC low CBD/CBN. It also has a lot to do with harvest time. And I know quite a bit about the bud at dispensaries. Just because your club stocks low quality doesn't mean mine does. You're welcome to call Golden State Patient Care and ask them about their top shelf.

  19. I've *supposedly* smoked durban poison, and it was dank as fuck. Just my experience, though.

Apologies for the size. This is durban poison. It's fantastic. Sticky. Covered in trics. I have to say I guessed it was an indica dominant at first toke but it is in fact a sativa. I don't know about 100% tho. I understand the plant could be a sativa but will still have those body buzz canibinoids. And I also understand that later harvests will result in amber trics which will give me that intense body stone... which is what I got. It is quite delicious. One of my new faves. I recommend. I know nothing about yields or any of that tho.
