I have 5 gallons of a chocolate stout and 5 gallons of a sierra nevada torpedo clone going right now.
I consider it every time I see the kits. Is it time consuming? Does it take up a lot of space? Really easy to fuck up?
ye i do , its pretty enjoyable , i brew cider and wine mostly , the only way to fuck up is to not properly sterilize equipment ,
it takes up as much space as a 5 gallon bucket does. 5 gallons gives you about 8 6-paks. It not really that easy to mess up as long as things are keep serialized your good to go. It takes 20 min to 1 hour to "brew" things together, then 2 weeks to ferment and 2 weeks to carbonate in the bottles.
Ive been gathering the supplies to build a still to start making some strong corn whiskey. It looks even easier than brewing beer and its so cheap. I cant wait to have some high proof to make some green dragon! I love wheat beer, would it be possible for me to brew that at home, Im talking like german hefe weisen tasting stuff.
Yes any kind of beer can be brewed at home. The only kind of beer that is a pain is lagers because they have to be brewed at around 35-40 degrees. Beer making is as easy or hard as you want it to be. You can buy a can of hopped malt extract add it to hot water then add to a fermenter then add yeast and ferment or you could go the all grain route which is a lot harder.
Is there like a turn key kit you can buy? Or just read misc info on the net and piece one together? Where would one go to learn if previously known nothing about that subject.
THere are kits out there but all you need is a 5 gallon food grade bucket, an air lock and a recipe kit. You can go to youtube and look up craig tube fo9r basic info: Kanaal van CraigTube - YouTube and here is a link to some kits: Equipment Kits - Brewing Equipment
Awsome shit! How much does it smell when its brewing? Would my wheat beer smell like Im makin bread? I live in a small apartment so I am concerned....
it just gives off a slight yeasty smell, if you put it in a closet you will only smell it in that closet. Some times it gives of a hop smell which is a piney citrus smell kind of like some dank. Here are some wheat beer kits: Wheat Beers - Recipe Kits - Brewing Ingredients
I really want to learn to brew my own wheat beer, right now during college I don't have the time though. Maybe next year.
Starting my own mini brewery next month =b. I'm lucky enough to have a home brewery store down the street tho. Although, I found something on amazon that seemed like a good starter kit for anyone else thinking about trying to brew some beer.
