Anyone else blaze and watch the State of the Union?

  1. We did :hello:

i thought it was pretty cool actually. Everyone wanted to talk but I just wanted to hear what the dude had to say. The clapping and standing gets so obnoxious after a while though.

  2. I watched about 10 minutes of it (whilst blazed).

The best part that I saw was when he started saying how we need to lower the corporate income tax rate so that American corporations could become more competitive. I thought that was funny. :p

  3. I listened to it for 10 minutes on the radio in my car just before going to class. He pretty much blew my buzz because I know he's full of shit.

  4. Politics is politics, but I think he's better than most. Definitely better than his predecessor or if McPalin had won.

  5. Some girl my dad works with was going off on how he was right and how we need to stop sending jobs overseas.

He completely schooled her in international business

  6. Well then he did it in a used car salesman kind of a way. Just because someone "wins" an argument doesn't mean they are correct. If you are arguing that more jobs SHOULD be shipped overseas than you're just wrong and that's all there is to it.

  7. Didnt plan it but it did work out that way, yes.

  8. Im in macroeconomics now, and that's certainly a hot topic. In the past, a lot of our economy has been service-based, but now we're exporting that too. Before your doctor looks at an X-ray, there's usually a doctor in India who's already written a little overview for him.

But it's the basic economic principle of comparative advantage that says the nation with the lowest marginal opportunity cost should and will produce a good. Now that we only buy goods and rely on services, we're getting bent over by our own habits.

Our future lies in technology and innovation. Thankfully, nearly everything new is still invented here, thanks to our higher education system.

  9. It was just a run off the mill SOU address that we have had hundreds of times before, except with a little more optimism. But to say the least better than last year. Where god damn the House was bouncing up and down like Zumba dance routine with pelosi as the instructor.

Still though, the only things that deserved applause in that speech was the commemoration of Rep Giffords and The Troops. Nothing more.
