I have been thinking about doing the same thing. Make another post and let me know how it works out. Do you have a link or name of the unit you bought. Doesn't it have some kind of exhaust outlet on it?
If its hot enough in there to need an air conditioner than by all means get one in there. Its better than letting your girls fry or letting your hydro pods boil in the heat. I dont know what your growing them in but its always a good idea when you have control of the environment. Try to regulate the air to stay around seventy degrees and you should be fine. This will help with removing moisture from the space as well. Good luck with your grow. later gm714
To the first question yes it vents to the outside. My closet is next to the side of the house so I can cut a hole to do that. We were running 700 watts on 12 plants and we would open the closet it would literally be 100 degrees (I know that is way to hot) so when we could we would vent from the outside of the closet (it is in our master bedroom) but we also know we did something else wrong as the lights were running in the daytime instead of at night. We are expanding our grow closet as it is tall and skinny and added a second level so we could increase our plants to 22. It is a mom and pop ran thing and I tried to convince my wife to let me do cool tubes but she was afraid of a fire. So we are using the following air conditioner (hope link goes through) http://www.air-n-water.com/product/PE2-07R-62DB.htm it has a lot of nice features on it for the price as it is also a dehumidifyer and a fan, remote control, and can also be set on a temp. I am going to try to get that temp PERFECT and see just how much I can get off my white widow ladies.
I actually built my own by recycling an old beat up one thagt the freon has already all leaked out other wise you would be releasing it into the atmesphere, if i knew how id post some pics.
