Grateful Dead definitely didn't write that song. The group the Young Rascals made it a hit in 1966, but it was written by Rudy Clark and Arthur Resnick. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=99pY1wcXTh4 Parliament/Funkadelic - Dr. Funkenstein
Fair enough, but usually when one says "(song title) by (artist)", it is assumed that they're talking about the original song, not the cover. Like if someone told you their favorite Sublime song was Scarlet Begonias...
great stuff everyone! i particularly enjoyed canned heat. here is an amazing grateful dead show live from 1972. they do a stellar darkstar http://www.archive.org/details/gd72-08-27.sbd.orf.3328.sbeok.shnf
Janis Joplin got some great songs to groove to. Songs like "Try (Just a Little Bit Harder), Piece of my Heart (Live in Amsterdam is amazing), Move Over, etc. Big Joplin fan. When me and my friend Jesus are together we can jam to Big Brother and the Holding Company (with Janis Joplin), Jefferson Airplane, and Eric Clapton for hours. The whole Eric Clapton album From the Cradle will get ya man!
i've gotta thank you personally lol..this song and band in general is so ridiculously funky i can hardly handle it. i've played this song at least twice a day since you posted it. anyone into p-funk, read the mythology
not too many out there huh? let's chill out and jam with pigpen for a minute http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WwbQN5_8Mys live five years if i take my time, ballin' that jack and drinkin' my wine..
Like a lot of Vermonters, i have a soft spot for Phish. Live Phish is some of the craziest shit ever. I feel bad that I only saw them a few times =[ I went their their last show it was pretty cool, although Trey was so fucked up he could barely play... A cop that had it out for me got ran over at their last show, so I owe them quite a bit
