Anybody Started Smoking After 30?

  1. I'm new at smoking and I'm 40. I would like to hear from some folks that started smoking after 30. I never had a desire to smoke growing up, and I was going to wait until I was 60, but now I'm using it for fun as well as medical reasons. Unfortunately, its not legal where I am yet. Just wondering what other late bloomers are going through.

  2. How are you liking the herb so far?

  3. Well, it's pretty nice. However, I'd spent so much time watching documentaries about the war on drugs, I didn't research how to smoke it. LOL. Plus, a friend of mine got me my first bud (it was a whole bud intact), I'm doing the one hitter technique, so it lasted for the whole month. However, I assumed if someone sold it, they would have it available all the time. So when that source went south, I really did not know how to go about looking for it. Luckily, I was at the gas station getting gas when my son's barber walked past me and I smelled that familiar smell. So I asked did he have smokes and made that "smoking a joint" motion with my fingers. Yes, I was desperately winging it. He caught on and I bought a nickel bag.

Of course, if you see my first poste on this site, the first night I smoked was truly messed up. LOL!

Anyway, the first stash I had smelled really bad and was tearing my throat apart. I even had to ask if it had been laced with something. Some nights I would get a headache. So much coughing and burning. The second stash from the barber is a bunch of what I think is what you guys call trimmings--it's in pieces and has a lot of stems. It was only 5 bucks. But I have to smoke more of it, but it doesn't burn or smell as bad, and he gave me his card to call him when he's not cutting hair, so I am assuming that he has access to it regularly.

Now I am looking at vaporizers, and I want to get a Puffit.

  4. What made you want to wait until you were 60? That's quite a long time

The burning throat is normal, especially if you're just starting to toke. For me the pain goes away very quickly so I try and ignore it, it gets more tolerable as long as you keep smoking.

  5. i smoked tobacco for years before weed...like 40!! quit tobacco at 52, started pot at 56 when some friends talked me into it ( theyre older than i am) but i had to pass pee tests regularly when working out of the carpenters hall and couldnt partake of the herb

  6. I think you mean smelled good lol...get some more of that, roll a blunt, smoke it, watch the discovery or travel channel

  7. That is crazy that you just happened to run into him at the store.

I sold an otter box to a guy on Craigslist and I don't know if it was the way I dressed or if he just has a feeling that I smoked, but after he left my house he asked if I smoked. I said yes, and he asked if I could hook him up. He's about 44 and I hook him up with about 1.75 grams a week. He had been looking for a dealer or middle man for quite a while and he just happened to run into the perfect Craigslist otter box ad and found me. Aha

  8. I tried it at 28 and probably used less than an ounce, over the years. At 55, I became a MMJ patient and haven't looked back. Wish I had discovered it, before numerous surgeries, opiates and various other meds.

First access and then, Learning HOW, is a process.

None of my friends use, unless I am in a group of MMJ activists. ret

  9. Bit of a late bloomer, aye?

I didn't start until I was 18, the assassins' threw down on some hash and it was one hell of a 12th century.

Welcome to the world of unicorns and dragons, about damn time.

  10. After a series of traumatic events (all of them in succession over a period of 5 years), noticing my declining mental health, and realizing that I may always be one foot away from looney-bin status, or liver failure brought on by all the meds I take, I decided I would ditch some of my meds for the herbal version at age 60. I figured that I would be retired and resting at 60.

Well, declining mental health forced me out of the workforce. Out of all of my meds, there are 2 that I've had withdrawls when trying to get off of them. Doc said the clinic doctors will no longer write scripts for those types of meds and don't have any alternate meds to take their place.

So knowing that me without certain medications would be an apocalyptic event at my house due to having to take care of myself, my disabled son, and my other two kids, I had to pony up for the herbal option quickly.

It was getting to the point that I would tell someone I was Bipolar with Depression, hoping someone could lead me to a specialist that makes sense, and they would say, "Oh me to. I smoke weed to level me out."

So I knocked off 20 years and I'm herbal enough to have worked off 1 med, and I will be working on the other one. :hello:

  11. IT WAS THE SMELL!

After the first week of me smoking, I'm telling you, I was smelling that smell all around the place! However, I live in a 24/7 Party City and we have plenty of drugs. Smelling like weed or alcohol is no big thing down here. He was smelling like both and had a beer in his hand. LOL!

  12. Love this question, Lady!

I'm also 40, and I can honestly say up to about 6 months ago I had never even SEEN weed, other than the wild stuff in the ditches. Grew up in a small, sheltered community, and while we drank quite a bit, I knew of no one who smoked it in my whole school...

I was always curious though, and I REALLY wanted to try growing it. One thing led to another, and I tried it about 6 months ago. I still only smoke occasionally but I enjoy it. Just harvested my first plant as well!

  13. I want to start growing it for my personal use eventually. Good for you ob your first harvest!
