When I ordered ice hulls a month ago I joined a mailing list from a brewing equipment supplier. I'm getting interested about it! Maybe someone could talk about it a little? How easy-hard it is to make your own beer? What are the challenges? Will the beer likely be »drinkable«? What is your setup looking like?
Home brewing is fairly simple if going the malt extract route rather than whole grain. Far less equipment required, far less time involved. Extract brewing gives excellent results, anyone of average intelligence can easily produce a great beer without a whole lot of trouble. Extract kits are available, which contain all the ingredients one needs to brew up about 48 bottles of brew for typically between $35-50 bucks. Fermentation equipment kits are available that have all the gear you need for a reasonable price. Whole grain brewing is going to require a substantial equipment investment initially, and is far more labor intensive, but offers more flexibility for the advanced brewer. I used to brew a raspberry wheat back in the day that would rival any beer you find on the shelf.
Can you make beer without hopps? I'd like to try brewing a sweet beer, to see what it would be like. I like sweet wine well enough, and the bitterness of beer was always a big turnoff for me.
I grow the weed she makes the wine and beer, this we have yet to try we both follow this Italian guy close
Thanks! sounds very interesting! Not something you do to save a few buck really like growing your own but just a fine hobby for fun. Think I'll order a kit!
Many different types of hops, added during different stages of the brew determines bitterness. The main bittering hops are added in the last 5 minutes of the boil, if those were left out, there would be very little bitterness.
