Any tips on enjoying Bethesda RPG's?

  1. Awhile ago I bought my brother Fallout 3 over Steam. Apparently he liked it enough to gift me Fallout New Vegas. I've been playing that a bit.

Unfortunately, I just don't seem to like Bethesda's RPG's. Oblivion couldn't hold my attention.

It's truly a pity because I do like the VATS. It's an ingenious way to weld RP and Shooting together.

I'm a huge fan of Mass Effect and Knights of the Old Republic. Bioware just knows where my pleasure center is.

Bethesda games have floaty characters that can't seem to shoot for crap. What is the point of crosshairs if the character can't shoot a B in the head. A still target!

I really like how streamlined Bio's weapon modding systems. Especially for ME3. FNV, conversely, seems to love making weapon repair, variety and modding as convoluted as possible.

I really want to like this game. It's possibly the first opportunity to bond with my brother in the last decade. So ... Any tips?

  2. If you don't like it than you do like it. I happen to love their games, but it isn't for everyone. Some people like to point and shoot, while Bethesda's games you must develop experience, have proper strength, in order to have a higher chance of hitting your mark. Which is much more realistic.

  3. Out of all the Bethesda games you picked the hardest to like. New Vegas seems like constant fetch quests in a boring landscape. Just find something more exciting, maybe Diablo 3

  4. Diablo 3 is by Blizzard

  5. Bethesda didn't make New Vegas, Obsidian did.

Skyrim is great and Oblivion is great too with mods.

  6. been playing fallout 3 n oblivion lately, and the only problems i have with them is, it takes too long too level up in oblivion when you are just starting, also, fallout 3 is really really gay if u do stupid shit when u first get to the city megaton, like accidentaly hit a pedestrian with a billy club and then i just kept getting owned by the entire city over n over lol, took me a while to fix that little mistake having never played a fallout game lol

  7. Skyrim's really nice. They fixed that whole 'floaty character' feeling I feel.

Fallout 3 was really cool but haven't got to play NV yet. I've heard too many negative stories about it so I've decided just to steer clear of it.

But yeah try out Skyrim. It's not a shooter but I feel they really stepped it up from previous installments.

  8. The best way to enjoy a Bethesda RPG is to Roleplay. Seriously, create your own character idea and impose limitations. Gotta be creative. Fallout 3 and NV are perfect games to roleplay in.

  9. zig zag up mountains.
