Your parents are very right! But I ride to live. I have taken and passed my MSF (Motorcycle Safety Foundation) course as well as the state required test! All with 100% but its the other drivers mistakes most of the time not yours. I have had some close calls but nothing devastating yet! Sticky Side uP!
I slammed my '10 hyo gt250r into a 4wd that made an illegal turn at ~100km/h. Was wearing no gear and nearly died. Turns out 4 days before i got hit by a speed camera doing 6km/h over the limit and as such lost my learner license, thus making me unlicensed at the time of the accident. lost my license for a year, but fuck i miss riding, especially in australian summer. But taking a nice ride up in the twisties and breaking for a bowl is an amazing feeling, so relaxing riding with the road.
I'm new to riding, I got a Honda Shadow a few months ago. I love it, you can't even compare the feeling to driving a car. I haven't ridden after smoking, I'm still breaking myself in so I don't wanna ride anything but sober, but taking a few hits before a ride sounds pretty awesome
Yeah man it is awesome but not for new riders. Be careful and take your MSF course as I mentioned in OP. & oh its way different than being in a cage!
I had 2 bikes but sold them both when I moved. Now I live where there are twisty Mtn roads! My next bike will be a DRZ400SM. Its killing me b/c this winter had been warm enough for me to ride but I'm going to wait to get a bike in late winter/early spring.
Nice I got a Yamaha seca 550 I'm workin on and a yz 125 and trr 125 dirtbikes. Got 4 fuckin carburators to de gunk on the seca so that's gonna be fun! The seca is actually my dads old bike he sorta just gave it to me, it's been sitting in our shed for about 15 years now and Its about time to get her back on the road. I want to get a 600 sometime in the future but I wanna learn the ropes on the bike I got now.
That is what i ride and have been since i was in grade 7, the bike is 30 years old and still runs like the first day i got it
the bikes themselves are not that dangerous. honestly no different then the bicycles you got as kids for x-mas... you can do the same stupid shit on them, or you can be one of the uber safe kids with headgear, pads etc.. motorcycle riding is sort of a family passion. my dad has been riding since the early 60s, my older brother has been riding for about 10 years. i myself have been riding for 8 years. and my younger brother ATTEMPTED to learn to ride a few years ago.. currently i am riding my fathers 05 road king custom, mainly to keep it up in working mechanical condition while my father heals from the numerous surgeries he's had over the past 2 years.. riding is an experience unlike any other on the planet. be it on a little moped, or on a massive custom chopper, it doesnt and shouldnt matter what you throw your leg over. we're all trying to put our face in the wind, the open road in front of us.
I got myself a street legal wr426 sitting in my shed... waitin on my jd jet kit to bring out the beast haha
